In interesting post by Crunch Gear caught my attention and I though I would share it with you.  Crunch Gear stumbled upon a question raised by Plenty: What would use more energy, a new TV or an old tube TV hooked up to a digital converter box?  Long story short, the power usage increase with the old tube TV was negligible.  If you are at all worried about energy costs with your TV’s, stay away form plasma, they are energy hogs.  The old tube TV’s are more efficient than plasmas but fall behind in efficiency when compared to a new Energy Star LCD.  Energy Star rated LCD TV’s are your best bet for saving money on electricity while enjoying TV in all of its HD glory.  For further energy savings, wait (if you can) another year as TV power usage is set to drop yet again.
