According to Crunch Gear, the Nikkei, the largest newspaper in Japan is reporting that Panasonic has set standards for Blu-ray/3D HD movies.  In order see said movies, you will have to done those old goofy red/blue glasses polarized glasses will be needed.  The result is an effect much like what you would see in a movie theater.  Panasonic is trying to urge movie theaters to adopt the technology to line their pockets get this 3D ball rolling a tad faster than it has been. Nikkei is also reporting that Panasonic is in early plans to open it’s first office in Hollywood to demo and test said technology with the public.  Don’t get to excited as this 3D tech isn’t slated to be coming to our houses until at the earliest 2010.

Red/Blue glasses are only used for 3rd rate 3d: 3d movies in the 80’s, and comic books. A few 3d dvd’s have been released in red/blue format lately, but only because that is the only way with non-3d ready TV’s.

No one is planning to come out with an outdated red/blue technology. (anaglyph) The current 3d movies such as Real 3d, use polarized glasses, which gives good full color movies, unlike the anaglyph method. Home TV systems will probably use shutter glasses to separate the left and right eye views.

If you haven’t seen a recent Real 3d movie at a theater, you should, so that you will know what you are talking about when you write to places like this.

Thanks for the input. Unfortunately in my neck of the woods 3D theaters are still only found n science fiction books…
