Not too long ago (12-18months) we were looking at 32GB SSD and thinking to ourselves, “Wow, that’s a lot of flash storage”. Fast forward and now 32GB is becoming a joke, a still rather expensive joke compared to traditional hard drives. However prices on SSD’s are rapidly falling. Apparently, leaks of 320GB SSD’s coming form Intel are making their way through PC manufactures who are being told to expect them this fall. While this isn’t an official announcement from Intel, it is one that is highly plausible given the current trends in SSD’s increasing in capacity and dropping in price. As soon as more is known, you’ll know.

The Palm Pre and the WebOS have garned a boat load of attention since being unveiled at CES. The way the OS works and is coded makes it stand out from pretty much everything else currently out there. One of the “hidden” features of WebOS was accidently let loose a little early by Roger MacNamee, a gadget lover and Palm board director.

This particular article on Alley Insider caught my attention as it’s no surprise in the age of technology, paper/physical news is losing ground to electronic as it’s easier and often free. What shocked me was the add ratios that Wired had/have. The picture above shows an older issue (bottom) underneath the newest issue (top). The difference in size is noticeable. How many ads did they really have?

Talk about quick! Seems as if the Android community is already taking aim at the Palm Pre. It is a very good looking device. And while the WebOS looks awesome and probably will be, who doesn’t love Android invading another victim. Apparantly, the project to port Android over to the OMAP 3 processor used in the Pre began as far back as July of ’08! Gaining serial access to the bootloader and stuffing multiple OS’s and apps onto the fixed 8GB storage will prove to be the hard part. It really is a shame they didn’t include a memory card slot to expand storage because 8GB really isn’t much at all. I hope that the parties involved do succeed as an Android toting Pre would be pretty sweet if you ask me. For a how-to on getting started head over to Palm WebOS Blog (NOT a beginner article or task).

There is nothing like being at a live sporting event. The sights, sounds, and smells (good and bad) completely envelope you and suck you into your surroundings making whatever even your at much more real. There is one drawback to live events. The lack of instant replays is always a pain. You paid x amount of dollars to be there in person and yet the guy sitting on the couch 500 miles away gets to see the latest play in slow mo from 20 different angles while your stuck wondering why the players are just standing around, (that is if you’re sitting way up in the nosebleed section). Technology is finally breaking though though as Arsenal, an English soccer club is experimenting with an instant replay system based around Sony’s PSP giving live users the best of both worlds. The service is scheduled to start rolling out in the next 18 months. Start counting the days down…now.
