One of the biggest upgrades that has been rumored for Apple’s iMac lineup is the move to quad-core processors.  The jump will bring pretty big performance increases in programs designed for multiple cores such as graphics software among others.  However, new information is starting to show that iMacs may stay dual-core.  Why you ask?

The LG VX9600 previously mentioned with its detachable goodies and all is set to arrive on February 22nd at your local Best Buy Mobile and Verizon Wireless stores.  This modular phone is definitely a rarity in the market and its future is unknown.  What do you think?  Will this ship sail away a winner?  Or sink like a rock with all the attachments you have to carry in your pocket?

In the time of increasingly complex smartphones comes the rise of for potential problems and bugs.  In order to combat the rise in problems, development usually starts getting longer and longer in order to release a perfect product.  In the wake of the Blackberry Storm’s launch, chat forums around the world are  filled with bugs regarding the keyboard (now mostly fixed), software crashes, slowness, and other OS related problems.  Despite these problems RIM still made out pretty well and sold over 500,000 Storm’s in the first month.  The WSJ  speculates that not surprisingly,  the early launch problems hampered popularity and sales numbers.  So what does RIM have to say for all of this?

Besides copy/paste, what is one of the other most often requested updates to be included?  If you answered Bluetooth file transfers you would be correct.  Yes it’s really here.  However, like all great revelations for the iPhone, jailbreaking is a must…Apple just loves their iron grip.  Who do you thank for this little feat of awesomeness?  MeDevil from iSpazio is the developer responsible for freeing up the iPhone just a little more.  Those looking to start swapping files will have to wait a tad longer as the app is not quite available yet.  Soon folks…soon!

Sword: Check. Chest armor: Check. Dressing up like ancient warriors, role-playing in public and getting documented on Google Street View…PRICELESS!

role-play

My mother always said your imagination is the gateway to the world.  From the picture above you can see that these two individuals have a very big imagination.  Just remember kids that the next time you dress up like medieval warriors and role-play in your front yard that  you can be caught on Google Street View and published for all the world to see your ridiculous self.

*In reality, these two were staged as an “art project” attempting to blend the real and virtual worlds.  Right.*  It’s still funny though.  So the next time you’re in Pennsylvania and traveling down Samsonia Way, keep a lookout for the medieval duo.

Android app, “Memory Up”, makes Android fans weep.

Android users’ biggest claim to fame is the “openness” of their mobile OS of choice.  However, too much of a good thing can always lead to trouble.  This posts one of those posts.  An Android app that goes by the name of “Memory Up” is causing major issues on Android phones.  Are the issues really that bad?  Why yes, yes they are.  For starters, the app will apparently erase whatever is stored on your microSD card, completely vaporized their contacts, spammed their email inboxes enough to even cause the pope to swear.  The cherry on top?  It will install adware on your phone free of charge as a parting gift.  Ya, this “bug” is a pretty hefty, ugly one to boot.  Better think twice before clicking that “buy” button.

Unlocked UMA Blackberrys now loved by T-Mobile

T-Mobile has in my opinion, one of the coolest, most useful features out of any of the carriers in the U.S., UMA, which allows you to make phone calls over WiFi, thereby making T-Mobile’s coverage virtually endless.  What’s even more appealing is if you sign up for a UMA voice plan, you can have unlimited calls on ANY WiFi network effectively eliminating your house phone.  Until now, only T-Mobile Blackberrys could use this feature.  However, now there is a way to use unlocked Blackberrys with TMO’s UMA service.  How you ask.  Keep reading.
