So you’re not into getting raped by your oh so unfriendly cable or DSL company?  Fear not, there is another option.  No, I’m not talking about satillite.  I’m talking about WISPS.  What the heck is WISPS?  Possibly your saving grace.  WISPS is a type of terrestrial (meaning they aren’t cellular or satillite) internet service that sadly doesn’t get the attention it deserves.  More than 750,000 square miles of the U.S. is covered by WISPS service.  So why don’t more people use it.  Well, it’s intended more for rural areas, precisely where cable and DSL often leave out to dry.  Also, it’s method of transmission relies on line of sight.  So obviously the best places are barren farm lands way out in the middle of no where.  One saving grace is that WISPS because of their unpopularity with the general population, are owned and operated by small independant companies meaning they actually care about the customer.  Something the big corps will claim until they’re  blue in the face but we all know just isn’t true.  It isn’t the greatest option for gaming as latencies can still be on the higher side like satillite, but if you live out on the farm, it may be your only choice.  For a map and list of the top ten WISPS providers in the United States head on over to BBW Exchange.
