When you hear Acer you think laptop, desktop, monitor, and now cell phone.  Acer is making the move into a quickly expanding market with little room for error and extreme competition.  The entrance into the market brings with them several intriguing handsets that appear to offer some pretty good looks and features to boot.  Step inside to get a load of Acer mobile goodness!

We’ll start with the lower end of the spectrum…I always liked saving the greatest for last anyway.  The first phone up is the DX900 with an odd dual-sim configuration.  The oddity isn’t in the dual-sim action, but in the different support each sim port will support.

 DX900

  • 2.8″ 640 x 480 screen
  • 533 MHz Samsung S3C 6400 mobile processor
  • 3 megapixel digital shooter
  • SIM 1 (UMTS/HSDPA (850/1900/2100 MHz) (Quad-band EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
  • SIM 2 (GSM Tri-Band 900/1800/1900)

M900.  The M900 has the same screen, processor, and storage as the DX900 so we’ll just cover what’s different between the two beasts.

  • slide-out full qwerty keyboard
  • 5 megapixel camera with LED flash
  • finger print reader (apparently buttons on the face aren’t needed…but a finger print reader is)

The finger print reader while at first glance appears gimmicky and just something else to break is actually a pretty darn cool idea.  Not to mention a big security benefit for the corporate minded folks.  However it lacks the “L Sensor” of the F900.  I can only assume the L sensor is their techie term for a light sensor.  Whatever works I guess.

And finally the grand daddy of them all, the F900.

F900:

  • 3.8″ 480 x 800 screen
  • 533MHz Samsung S3C 6410 mobile processor
  • 128MB RAM/256MB ROM
  • microSD card slot
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus
  • Class B, multi-slot class 11 Quad-band GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1900/2100 MHz)
  • HSDPA Category 8/ HSUPA Category 5 (850/1900/2100 MHz)
  • WiFI 802.11 b/g
  • Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
  • G-Sensor and L-Sensor (L sensor I would assume means “light sensor”
  • SiRFstar III GPS system wi/ Navigon shareware installed
  • Pull-out antenna (not sure if that’s a blessing or a curse)

As you can see these phones pack a wallop.  The inclusion of a pull out antenna on the F900 seems a little odd.  While it does add considerably to reception, this is 2009, obviously you have to be able to figure out how to get the reception and lose the antenna.  Gallery included below with pics compliments of Crunchgear.
