If you are one of the lucky folks that have been able to order one of Apple’s new 17″ MacBook Pros you have most certainly been bummed about the shipping delay. However reports are coming in that the 17 inchers are starting to make their way to their new homes. Two readers (123free and UFOGoldorak) over at MacRumors have reported getting their 17″ MBP’s already…slightly ahead of Apple’s (delayed) claimed February 19th shipping date…early is never bad people. What’s nice is that UFOGoldorak has already put up some prelim benchmarks of the new hotness (a 17″ MBP with a 2.93GHz proc, 4GB RAM and Nvidia 9600 GT graphics card) against an older 15 ” MBP with a 2.4 GHz proc, 4GB RAM and Nvidia 8600 GT. The new hotness definitely leaves the ‘ol geezer in the dust. Benchmarks for the geeksters is right here. Enjoy! If you ordered a 17″, send in some pics and let us see it!

And we’re not talking flanel panels either. These are high quality all digital panels. Woo hoo! Complete and utter ridiculous non-sense aside, the 4 new panels will consist of: CNN, Skype, Mytopia, and “On-the-road”. Of course with the CNN panel you will be getting the latest in news coverage including everything form sports to weather. The popular “civillian journalism tool” i-Report will also be included so little ‘ol you can be the big journalist you’ve always wanted to be. The Skype panel will make identifying which of your Skype friends are online as well as access to them only one click away. The Mytopia panel will allow the gamers of the crowd who need to kill some time or just simply like to play games the option of doing so. Bingo and Poker were two of the options mentioned although there are many more to choose from. And last but certainly not least is the oddly named “On-the-road” panel. This panel is responsible for brining HUGE icons to your screen which in turn will allow you to control such tasks as music playback, UI navigation, and call handling. Beyond these 4 panels mentioned above, Sony has many more available at Sony Fun. Stop by and see if they have they have that special app to make you go ga ga for the X1!

Until now, the only Android device in the U.S. has been HTC. They were in fact the first manufacturer to debut the mobile OS. Times are a changin’ as more manufacturers announce their own plans to bring the open source goodness to their handsets. Today, LG has announced that by June we will see an Android packin’ LG handset…AND…two more by year’s end! How about that. LG makes some simply drop dead gorgeous phones…HTC eh, it’s more hit and miss. It will be interesting to see what LG can come up with to wow us all. As for any other specs you only have your imagination to conjure up the crazies that float around in there. Have fun!

What can I say, I have a poetic side from time to time and thought I would share it with you. It’s the least I could do. According to an interview between Edge and Aaron Greenburg, the basic underlying message is that the whole RROD fiasco with Microsoft and the Xbox 360 is finished. Not finished as in no more cases, but finished as in Microsoft has improved their repair techniques so that their are far fewer second timers. For some words to mentally chew on concerning the whole interview come on inside!
