Twitter has been in our lives for several years now. Through those several years they have grown into an internet giant with millions upon millions of users everyday. One would think that an online outfit such as Twitter would be raking in tens of millions if not hundreds of millions of dollars. If you thought just that, you would wrong. Up until recently, Twitter survived solely on outside money not made by their own services. Today is a new dawn and the young Twitter we have grown old with the last several years is growing up and becoming more mature.
*Update* According to Tech Crunch, the companies being featured on Twitter’s ads aren’t paying a single cent. Seems as if Twitter just wants to help out the little guy…can’t fault them for that.

If the last two springs and summers have been any indication, we should come to expect the summer as “Apple Season” as that is when then last two biggest product launches have occured…(iPhone and iPhone 3G). This summer doesn’t appear to be any different if a high ranking AT&T employee claims. The claims include: a new iPhone announcement mid-June, new iPhone will be faster with a “more seamless experience”, U-Verse iPhone application, a much more “unified” experience between many technologies, and *maybe* 7.2Mbps HSDPA. The source also claims that we should expect a “very exciting summer”. Let the rumor mills kick into high gear as this summer will build upon the previous two (seems impossible) and drive even more Apple/iPhone hysteria.

Mobile users can breathe a heavy sigh of relief as their beloved mobile devices are safe for another year. The Pwn2Own competition put on by CanSecWest in Vancouver, British Columbia, draws hackers from far and wide that come together to find, exploit, and aid developers and manufacturers in patching security holes, were unable to break into any of the mobile devices entered (according to Tipping Point) even though they had a field day with browsers just a few short days ago. The mobile OS’s that were represented this year include: iPhone, Blackberry OS, Symbian, Android, and Windows Mobile. All of the mobile OS’s held their ground and rebuked hackers’ attempts to gain access. The hackers however claim that “next year they will come better prepared”. So for now we can go on with our merry lives not knowing what dangers lurk. Until next year folks, use your mobiles happily…though with a cautious eye.

Apple has long been criticized for having products with too high of a price tag and peformance that could be had elsewhere for much cheaper. Apple has stated before that they don’t know how to build cheap products that they could be happy with…*pertaining to netbooks in particular*. However, the entrance into the “Apple Logo Club” as Microsoft’s incredibly retarded CEO claims has now become a tad lower thanks to what appears to be a leak of an upcomming announcemnt of a 17″ iMac for the masses. The 17″ iMac was discontinued for the mass public back in ’06 but was kept available for “edutcation”. However, a slip up on an educational email mentions a 17″ iMac for only $899. Now, is this a new iMac that is coming back into production in order to make some money on Apple’s “lower end”, is it the educational model being touted in these tough economic times to gain attention, or did someone at Apple just have a case of the sausage fingers? Hopefully, the public will get a taste of an $899 iMac, even if it is a smallish 17″ screen. Not everyone needs 24″ inches. So would you bite at that size and price?
