With all of the tech loving world continually lusting after highend and most of the time expensive phones, it makes sense to take a step back and look at some less than top end models for the broader range of what people can actually afford. Today’s phone ’0 bargin comes by of LG in the form of the LG GM200. While it doesn’t have any whizbang features that launch to the head of the class, it does have a respectable set that will get you though the day no less. Those more frugal features include a 2MP camera, Bluetooth 2.1 A2DP, and microSD card support. Two noteable features include an FM Tuner for when you get tired of listening to your own tunes and Dolby audio. The mention of Dolby audio perks my ears up a tad as I consider myself border line audiophile. Normally, audiophiles don’t like things that “color” music. However, in the case of mobiles, the sound sucks to begin with so a little color couldn’t hurt. If this at all excites you prepare to either swim or fly as it is only launching in Ukraine for the time being. *sigh*

I consider myself a fairly musical person. I constantly find myself searching (many times fruitlessly) for a new song or new band that somehow slipped by my radar as I get tired of the same thing too quick. The drive to keep finding new material is what keep me going however. If you yourself have this sort of problem as well, Fizy might be just the thing you’ve been searching for.

In what is a rare showing of kindness and thoughtfulness for their users on AT&T’s part, a sweet little online deal has popped up today. If you don’t mind shopping online and risking your identy or the risk of picking up a refurbished phone, AT&T has something right up your alley. Normally priced at $299, with refurbs going for $199, the Bold is available only online and today only for the price of FREE.99. That’s “Free” for those of you who didn’t understand that cute yet pathetic play on words. You can walk away *figuratively* with a nice *almost new* Blackberry Bold. Of course, you’ll have to give away your cellular soul to AT&T for two years, but hey, if you reading this and visit sites such as this, I’m sure you soul has been pretty battered by now. Remember…TODAY ONLY…hit up AT&T’s site and buy it now!

Yes another social butterfly post. Forgive me. Socialness seems to be all the rage these days. Everyone has it seems 3 or more different messaging accounts. I guess one isn’t good enough anymore. Though I can understand this if you have many friends of whom each one is partial to a particular client, then things get dicey for you. That is where multi-chat apps come in to save the day. Instead of having five different apps running with five different chat windows each, everything is now nicely organized into one app. In the push to be social while mobile, multi chat apps for mobiles has really taken off. Today we’re going to look at IM+ by SHAPE services.

If typing on an onscreen keyboard is too “fake”, and a real keyboard is too 1991 for you, then Diotek may have a solution for your needs. The clever developers at Diotek have continuted on their handwriting recognition software success from Windows Mobile and are releasing a version for Android. From now on you can just “write” whatever you want on your screen and the software is smart enough *let’s hope* to correctly identify what you are trying to write. If you don’t know English or Korean, then you can stop reading now because as of right this second, those are the only two languages that are supported. Other trivial information such as a price or release date are still being written up…*god that was a terrible pun…I’m really sorry to have put you through that…God save your soul*. Still, it is an interesting piece of software that while the masses may not download it, I’m sure they have a loyal following none the less.

So your buddy has been bragging about his 8GB in his PC. Smack him in the face with a rebuttal of 192GB! Eh, maybe not quite that much. But at least know that it’s possible…not very economical though. Intel’s latest Nehalem chipset as most of you know allows anstonishingly large amounts of RAM. Dell is welcoming with open arms you professional users you, with their latest Precision T7500 which has 12 available slots for DDR3 1333MHz RAM. The largest sticks of RAM you can get right now are 16GB in size. Those 16GB sticks cost $3,400…EACH! Do the math. No matter how you figure it, $40k for a RAM upgarde is ridiculous. Even for 192GB. Who even has $40k laying around for a RAM upgrade anyway…*AIG worker…”I’ll take two please”*. Though, large companies with deep pockets (maybe some of the computers on AIG’s private jets need 192GB RAM upgrades) will surely pick up a few of these pricer upgrades. In time the prices will fall and the affordability and ability to have nearly 200 GB or RAM will come to the more mainstream little guys like you and me. For the time being however, only the big corps with many servers and many many users will be able to afford (and justify) such large amounts of RAM. Keep dreaming folks.

If you are a student in need of basic and more advnaced office programs in order to get your school work done, Microsoft would like to hook you up this fine and glories Friday. Seems that even though they are a multi-billion dollar company, they can still sympathize with the toll the economoy and a college work/class schedule takes on the your learners paychecks. Because of this, Microsoft has decided to offer a 91% discount on Office Ultimate 2007 for students. That’s right, you can get every Office title for the low price of $59.95…down from the astronomically high $680! This is an awesome gesture by Microsoft, however, I would like to also take this time and remind the many college students out there of campus bookstores. If you’re college has one, check to see what software titles they have. They often have many popular and hit ticket titles such as Office, as well as operating systems on sale for the cheap. I know through my college I could download Office Ultimate ’07 for free and I picked up a copy of Windows XP for $10. Granted your milage may and probably will vary from college to college. It is worth noting however that my downloads from school are technically only “mine” until I graduate at which point I’m required to remove any trace of the discounted software I obtained from school. The $59 discount straight from Microsoft however is good for life. So take that info and decide accordingly. So if you have a valid .edu email address stop on by Microsoft’s online shop and download your practically stollen software today!
*Also of note, Silicon Alley Insider is reporting that they have been tipped off that Microsoft’s “Ultimate Steal” is not new at all. Interesting to say the least. I can’t imagine this not making news earlier if in fact it isn’t new. Regardless, I’ll keep you updated.
