Everyone has been getting all hot and bothered lately about Apple’s next UI overhaul.  What will it look like?  Well, since iTunes 7 came out with a darker look, you have probably been staring at the next Apple OS UI and didn’t even know it.  Apple loves simplicity, eye candy, and used to cherish uniformity.  However, with the darker look in iTunes 7/8 and now the new iLife ’09 suite, Apple seems to either be going through a slow transition as to not shock us all at once, or they themselves don’t even know what they want to do, like they’re stuck between Aqua and “Marble”.  All of this uncertainty on UI styles brings up the question: Why one style?  Come inside for a look back in time at several styles OS X has taken and the possibility of what future renditions hold…

Android gets “My Account” app from T-Mobile

myaccountapp

If you are a numbers geek or just like to know how much minutes, texts, etc. you have left on your T-Mobile plan and have an Android device, today is your lucky day.  T-Mobile has officially released their first Android app called “My Account”.  My Account is pretty straight forward as it tells you details such as minutes used/unused, texts used/unused, etc.  T-Mobile took the app one step further however as you can also make payments on your account within the app!  And the cherry on top is that the app also gives you a bill summary that includes your balance, due date, and plan information.  AT&T…where’s the iPhone “My Account” app?  Oh that’s right, you’re too busy screwing your customers and counting your dollar bills to care. *sigh*  The T-Mobile My Account app is free to download in the Marketplace.  Get to it people.

shopsavvy

Sure there are many apps across several platforms that allow you to scan an item (such as the iPhones Snap Tell) or a barcode (again…iPhone app “Scan Life“) and inform show you prices from varoius online dealers.  What if you wanted to take that information one step further and know how much stock on hand the store you’re currently on actually has?  That is where Shop Savvy comes in.  In the latest update to the popular free app, Shop Savvy uses information provided by Krillion to tie into stores inventory system and displays how much is currently in stock.  This is definitely a cool feature.  Will it move mountains and be responsible for a retail evolution?  No.  But again, it is a sweet idea.  You can pick up Shop Savvy in the Android Marketplace now.

Twitter lessons coming to UK primary schools?

  • March 25, 2009 9:27 am

socialmedia

In what would certainly be a bold new direction in education, the British government is proposing that Twitter be taught in primary schools.  Why?  They want children to get a good grasp and understanding of technology, the internet, and social networking at an early age.  They also see the limitless possibilities that Twitter itself could have in the classroom in regards to communication skills.  Besides Twitter, the proposal also highlights teaching how to make podcasts, blogging, and the use of Wikipedia.  I’m sad to say it but yet again another country is quickly passing the U.S. in terms of technology adoption and education reform.  Awesome job U.S….awesome.  You may be asking who is responsible for this technological education revolution?  That man would be Sir Jim Rose, the former Ofsted chief, who was appointed by ministers to overhaul the primary school curriculum.  His proposals and reforms are expected to be published next month.  Exactly what does the bill contain?  Step inside and fill your little head.
