There is no group in the gadget/electronic world as loyal and vocal as the Mac fanbase.  I should know I am one of them.  Besides the Mac camp, another quickly growing fanbase is that of Twitter.  The little (at one time not so long ago) company now is looking at year-to-year growth of well over 1000% each month!  While firing up the ‘ol browser and going to Twitter’s site is all fine and dandy, some people just want an intuitive and attactive desktop application.  If this sounds like someone you know (such as yourself), the developers of Nambu have something just for you.  Nambu is a very polished and functional desktop Twitter client for Mac OS X.

What makes the Nambu Twitter client for Mac so addicting is that it fits in so well?  As you can see by the picture above it has a design that very much resembles the Mail application on OS X ensuring that the Mac purists are pleased by the asthetically pleasing eye candy while getting their Twitter fix.  And a fix will you receive as Nambu isn’t just a Twitter client.  What kinds of goods does Nambu offer?

  • Threaded conversations
  • Support for multiple Twitter accounts
  • Isolate Tweets with links
  • Custom Filters
  • Photo Sharing
  • Link Shortening
  • Persistent Searches
  • Track trends through hashtags and keywords

These aren’t the only features however as besdies the standout features mentioned above, Nambu also includes pretty much every feature their competitors offer meaning it is extremely versatile and well rounded.  And since Nambu isn’t just a Twitter/Tweet viewer/responder, customization is plentiful, especially in reguards as to the way you actually view your followers/following/and tweets.

  • “Mail View”: In this view the content is arranged in a Mail-like view that organizes your friends, groups, saved searches and everything else that is left in a left-hand column with tweets showing up in the right pane
  • Single Column View: This arrangement is prettysimilar to the look of Twitter’s website in that the tweets are grouped in a center column with the other information grouped on the side.
  • Multiple Column View (pictured above): Tweet Deck viewers will feel at home with this view as that is what it more or less looks like.  Think of it as a tweaked “Single Column view” as in more spread out between columns horizontally instead of vertically.

While it is a very promising Twitter app for OS X, it is still a beta in which bugs will at times rear their ugly heads – such as random crashes as well as refresh issues as reported by Webmonkey.  But the visual appeal and deep feature set make Nambu a very attractive client to use and or watch for future releases if the current beta bugs are a bit much for you.  But why stop on the desktop level?  Nambu also has a great and feature filled iPhone application (iTunes Link) available in the appstore for a very affordable price of: FREE!  Now your desktop and iPhone can match as you Tweet away the day!  I encourage you to give Nambu a try and let us know how it goes for you!
