BerryWalls makes finding Wallpapers for you Berry fast, easy, and dare I say enjoyable

Hardcore Blackberry users who thrive on the search for the next way to cusomize their beloved Berry now have a new means of venting said enthusiasm.  BerryWalls makes the search for wallpapers an extremely quick one.  Granted, that task isn’t as easy as it sounds.  With mobile devices not always have the best browsers nor download speeds, graphic rich websites full of wallpapers don’t exactly take to well to them meaning changing up the look of your Berry on the go means lots of waiting and lots of frustration.  Not so with BerryWalls, it is as simple as searching for a particular wallpaper catergory, and then selecting in a handy little drop down the appropriate resolution for you Blackberry.  It is worth noting that even though the site is fast, it isn’t actually a mobile site.  The mobile version of the site is in development though according to Matt, from BerryWalls.  Also, because it is a new service, the catalog of wallpapers isn’t very large yet.  That’s why you Blackberry users have to head on over and start adding to the catalog!  BerryWalls.  Fast.  Simple.  Effective.

Worthless iPhone developer approves of violence towards infants [Baby Shakers]

In what is beginning to become a weekly occurance, Apple has again stirred up controversy regarding approved apps appearing in the App Store as well as the methods they use to approve/reject certain apps.  The latest scandal is actually quite disturbing and makes me want to puke – it’s that bad.  The app that is causing all of the commotion?  “Baby Shaker”.  The app does exactly what the title implies.  It is a basic app with no real meaning other than to silence kill digital babies.  The app starts with a screaming baby at which point you vigerously shake your iPhone/iPod Touch until the baby has red x’s appear over its eyes signifying that it is dead.  Pardon my plain, simple, and blunt english, but what kind of sick fuck makes something like this, approves this, and ultimately pays to downloads this.  Everyone involved should be fully ashamed and disgusted with themselves.  The topic it touches on is neither funny nor a way to make money.  I highly encourage everyone to boycott any other apps that Sikalsoft currently has in the app store as well as any future apps. Besides the questionable sanity of the developers involved as well as those that download this, the App Store approver(s) who let this slip by should be fired for the content they let slide though as well as their double standards.  There are countless farting apps, boob apps, the infamous $1,000 app, as well as countless other questionable apps that violate the “App Store Policy”, yet somehow shaking a baby is ok. In reality, Apple, the company as a whole would never approave of this, however, the person who thought it would be funny to approve this app should shortly be living on the street begging for pennies.  The developer, F*** them!

**Update    5:45pm (EST)**

Apple has officially removed Baby Shaker from the App Store.  The call for boycott still stands.

**Update 4/23/09**

Apple took the time today to officially apologize for the “great mistake” and oversight.  The official apology:

“This application was deeply offensive and should not have been approved for distribution on the App Store. When we learned of this mistake, the app was removed immediately. We sincerely apologize for this mistake and thank our customers for bringing this to our attention.”

So all is well again in Apple land.  Do you forgive them/in the process of putting it behind you?

Obama loves the RIAA, adds another snake to the cabinet

  • April 22, 2009 1:29 pm

obama

In what is most certainly is a blow to consumers’ rights, the Obama administration continues to fill its Technologically focused positions with ex-RIAA lawyers making quite possibly the most biased and powerful group of copyright supporters in the country.  Even after dozens of public interest groups from all walks of life sent a letter to Obama urging him to stop this obvisous bias in filling up his cabinet positions, specifically technology based positions, with ex-RIAA laywers.  This ongoing practice is a scary because it will give money hungry copyright holders more leverage to screw the American public all the meanwhile they whisper sweet nothings into Obama’s ear.  Either he is incredibly greedy and stupid himself for siding with RIAA type individuals and practices, or incredibly ignorant and mindless.

Any way you look at it, isn’t good for consumers.  More and more restrictive policies will surely be brought forth as well as quite possibly a resurgence in DRM, both in sheer number of DRM technologies as well as the intrusiveness into our lives.  Of course pro-copyright/RIAA types are applauding Obama and his administration for saving the industry.  The only thing that will save the industry is the death of the RIAA and any other company that operates like them.  Sadly it looks as if the remaining three and a half years we have with Obama aren’t going to be the greatest technologically speaking if he keeps up with his current practices and friends.  Any one else feel the same?

VistaBB ups the bar for Vista themes

Yes I know, at first you may be saying to yourself “another Vista/Windows theme?!”  Don’t fret. I know I have shown off quite a few Vista style Blackberry themes, however, this particular theme, VistaBB, created by Brian from PimpMyBerry, single handedly raises the bar for all future Windows style themes.  Not only does this theme look amazingly polished, it is also highly functional, (something that often doesn’t occur on highly creative themes).  For the full list of the themes features and functions as well as another screenshot, take a second and come inside.

Forget DVD, watch Blu-ray movies in your car [Panasonic]

Physical media formats sadly aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.  With the crowning of an HD format champ, Blue-ray, it appears as if physical media isn’t going to go down without a fight.  For the time being, pass the time in your car, watching a movie – a Blu-ray movie.  Panasonic is bringing the worlds first next-gen now current gen physical format, as well pleasing digital only folks by way of  two new head units, the CN-HX3000D Windows-powered unit, and the CY-BB1000D in-car Blu-ray player.  The CN-HX3000D (pictured above) eschews the physical media, instead, opting for a built-in 40GB hard drive and 7-inch, 1280 x 720 display.  GPS, Bluetooth, and iPod/iPhone compatibility are also thrown into the mix.  For those of you who are in fact sticking with the whole physical media thing for now, the CY-BB1000D may be more to your liking.  The big draw to the CY model is the added Blu-ray functionality.  (Sorry, no BD-Live support).  So there you have it.  Both physical and digital car/tech aficionados are getting some love from Panasonic.  How beneficial is a Blu-ray player on a 7-inch 1280 x 720 display?  That is for you and your wallet to decide.

VHS/USB storage drive puts the present in the past

Chances are if you have been on this earth for more than fifteen or so years, you probably have at least a dozen or two VHS tapes.  Once the hallmark of technology and personal home entertainment has since become a poster child for old, outdated, and the 80′s.  If you have been wanting to put those golden oldies to use, now is your time. Don’t worry, vast amounts of time nor money are needed for this project to become one of your own.  It really is simple actually.  Connect a usb cable to a flash drive inside the case and spend a little bit of time doing some basic soldering with a small circuit board and you will be well on your way to the talk of the evening.  Approximate price for materials used, $10-$15 per tape – not bad.  Start raiding your VHS closet now!  For you viewing pleasure, a video showing you all that is needed both material wise and knowledge wise to get the job done is right inside.

The Nano Flash Drive by EagleTec – simply tiny

  • April 22, 2009 7:44 am

If your stereotypical flash drive is too large and unwieldy for a mobile user such as yourself that can’t possibly be tied down by another bulky gadget in your pocket, bag, or purse, EagleTec was thinking just of you.  The Nano Flash drive is quite possibly the smallest you can get a flash drive before you start losing it in the USB port that you plug it in to, let alone the small journey you must go through if you carelessly toss this miniscule thing into a bag or purse.  Let me emphasize…it’s tiny.  The Nano Flash Drive comes in 4GB and 8GB capacities ringing in at (a rather affordable wouldn’t you say) $22 and $33 respectively.  Size wise the foot print looks like: 19 x 15 x 6mm – told you it was tiny.  Mac and Windows users can both partake of this little wonder of engineering with support for both OS’s.

Pretty big storage in a very tiny device all for a very reasonable price makes this a great buy.  However, those of you who somehow lose objects that are many times the size of this drive, things such as keys, phones, cars (we’ve all forgotten where we’ve parked), you might want to to rethink purchasing this particular drive as it may very well come up missing.  Stop by Brando today and open up your wallet.
