The last few days have been full of rumors of the potential shortages that the Palm Pre will be graced with at launch. Instead of, you know producing enough to meet demand, Palm has stated from the beginning to expect long lines, shortages, and mass hysteria. Awesome, just the thing you want to highlight when you’re trying to save your company from deaths door. A Boy Genius ninja chimed in with some rather scary info. Palm aparently doesn’t know how to make money anymore nor how to properly manipulate product stock and the market. The latest revelations pertaining to Palm Pre launch day are sickening to say the least. Step inside and bring the puke bucket.
Apparently, there will only be a god awful 4.250 Palm Pre’s to share between roughly 1,000 Best Buy stores on June 6th. Do the math…that equals to about 4 units per store. Further tid bits of absolute ridiculousness pertain to Radio Shack and their Pre launch plans. The lucky electronics retailer will receive an even more abysmal 721 Pre’s nationwide. Whoever came up with this “planned shortage” should be shot…well…fired first…then shot. It’s not like anyone held a gun to Palms figuritive head and demanded the 6th of June. They picked it, so why can’t they meet demand – that is again if they aren’t creating this whole shortage issue themselves. I guess Palm wants to die. Usually to make money you have to actually sell product. Shortages just piss people off and cause them to buy something else. And with Apple’s WWDC event a few days after the Pre launch, it isn’t the smartest move Palm has made. Come launch day are you going to be rioting in the streets?
