Europeans hate wires – love the open air.

While we all can surely appreciate being truly mobile and freeing ourselves of the corded shackles keeping our devices enslaved to the wall, it appears that Europeans are the most appreciative. Berg Insight released a report stating that 11.6% of all data connections were high-speed mobile broadband based. That is, 11.6% of all internet traffic in Europe originated from devices not connected by a hard wire (not just mobile phones, but devices such as computers with USB mobile broadband dongles etc.!

Furthermore, also in Europe, HSPA connected users climbed an astonishing 75% between 2007-2008 while their neighbor across the pond…the U.S. sadly has a much smaller user base of mobile broadband with only 4.5% of national U.S. users using mobile broadband. As you can see, the U.S. has quite a ways to go in terms of mobile broadband penetration. Of course, the U.S. occupies a vastly larger space of above water crust…
