Social butterflies and Blackberry addicts can now get it on digital speaking with a new Blackberry centric social networking site/app that goes by the name of Pinwall. It comes off to me as sort of a souped up Blackberry messenger/facebook online mash-up. So far I’ve been messing around with it for an hour or so and I like what I see. Though, it isn’t yet quite perfect.
The only hiccup I’ve encountered so thus far is when I try to add my profile picture. Adding a profile picture brings up the BB browser at which point you’re supposed to click on the browse button and navigate to the picture you want to add. However, for me at least, the browse button wasn’t working at all. All that was happening was the browser would begin to stutter and have a stroke anytime I got anywhere near the browse button. Hiccups are to be expected as the service is fresh out of the digital oven. Also, the app itself is a tad slow (on my 8320 anyway). A smoother/faster operation would help but in current form is still more than perfectly quick enough that most people won’t notice.
How the service matures and grows in comparison to other BB social networking sites such as: BBMNation, Magmic Social, Blackberry Underground, Blackberry Ave., and PinSwapMe remains to be seen. However, if the first couple of hours are any indication, Pinwall is going to be a great community and service to be a part of. A few pics of the app in action are inside. If you’re in the market for another BB social networking site/app or are just plain currious, point both your desktop and BB browsers over to www.getpinwall.com.
