Microsoft as of late has been really pushing the whole “value” mentality when comparing Windows boxes to Apple powered ones. More or less, the gist of Microsoft’s latest “Laptop Hunter” ads were that Microsoft is more affordable and gives you more for less. They portray Apple computers as overpriced with the consumer paying a premium for a simple fruit logo on the machine. Microsoft while still very much having a majority of the computer market by user base percentage isn’t lying down and is pushing their offensive right into Apple’s home turf. As you can see above, the animated Laptop Hunter ads on that particular mobile site give Apple and iPhone users a chance to “see what kind of PC they are”. While Apple can’t really do anything about the ads as the site isn’t owned by Apple and last time I checked site owners can display whatever they want, I’m sure Apple is a bit uneasy having people classify their PC persona on their device. Granted, these ads can appear on any mobile platform software and hardware and aren’t exactly a direct assault on Apple by team Redmond. Still, it’s a bit amusing to see this particular combination…don’t you think?

Visual Voicemail is quickly becoming a much sought after feature for many consumers in that it makes sifting through voicemails much easier. The Pre has been rumored and even claimed to have Visual Voicemail support. But will it really? Thanks to the new age breaking news provider, Twitter, a tweet on Palm’s Twitter account sadly depicts a not so rosey launch for Pre/VV happiness. As the tweet capture (above) clearly shows, Visual Voicemail will not be debuting with the Pre on the 6th. Instead the developer community will have to do Palm’s job and bring the service to market. Is anyone upset, sad, angry, couldn’t care less that Palm is slacking? Coupled with the in house shortage, the Pre is starting to lose its luster, at least for me anyway. Anyone else feeling the same?

The last few days have been full of rumors of the potential shortages that the Palm Pre will be graced with at launch. Instead of, you know producing enough to meet demand, Palm has stated from the beginning to expect long lines, shortages, and mass hysteria. Awesome, just the thing you want to highlight when you’re trying to save your company from deaths door. A Boy Genius ninja chimed in with some rather scary info. Palm aparently doesn’t know how to make money anymore nor how to properly manipulate product stock and the market. The latest revelations pertaining to Palm Pre launch day are sickening to say the least. Step inside and bring the puke bucket.

If you work in an office, have many clients, or are just a popular person, chances are you get bombarded with emails. Now, add on top of that the countless number of spam and junk emails you receive each day and the list of emails to go through, sort, and organize becomes a tedious and monumentous time consuming task. Don’t you wish there was a more automated way to organize you email that was easy, unintrusive, automatic, and reliable? If so, Google may be working on something to answer those very questions.

Those lucky people over at Engadget are the luckiest dudes in the business right now. They were able to sneak some quick hands on time with the Storm2, the only disappointing part being that a bug prevented them from doing pretty much anything besdies staring at the activation screen. GREAT NEWS!!! That half-baked/crappy surepress click screen is gone and has been replaced by a traditional (and much better) capacitive display. We can finally type faster and more accurately on the screen. **If you were a fan of the click screen…sorry** Also as seen before, the 4 physical buttons on the front of the device have been moved up to the touch part of the display. Also worth noting is that the phone is a tad sleeker while bringing a slight increase in weight gives the phone a “higer end” feel that will surely please many. If the added heft has you worried get a life. We’re talking a few grams, definitely nothing that will break your back. While the changes are subtle, they are certainly welcome ones that needed to happen. Hop inside for a few pics courtesy of Engadget.
