CableDrop brings organization to your tangled mess of a life

cabledrop

Building off of the unrelated yet similar product, the “BudTrap“, the CableDrop looks to do more or less the same, except with a more static location in mind, such as your computer desk. Forget having to scour the ground for your lost cables as you pick up and go and instead just pick up and go worry free. The CableDrops come in a pack of 6 for a very reasonable $10 per. I for one could use several packs. What about you?

Powerbrella ensures your geekiness is spread around

Some people love gadgets. Some people love trees. While others like cute furry little animals. Whatever the case may be, when venturing outside into the wild world of nature, gadget hounds leave behind one of their most important possessions – power outlets. Sure you can purchase small battery packs or even miniature solar chargers to increase your mobile run time, but that’s so selfish of you. Why are you thinking of only yourself? I’m sure in a busy city there are many people who live and die by the power outlet. So why not spread the love? Get on spreadin’ that digital love with the Powerbrella.

Zune HD comes to life

black-zune-hd

Zune fans and Microsoft junkies, today is your day to brag and boast. The Zune HD which has been “leaked” and talked about constantly across the web is a rumor no more. The latest offering in the Zune line brings “HD” tag to the name – it probably has something to do with that amazing OLED 480×272 capacitive touchscreen display that is begging to get all oily with your finger prints. Further sweetening the deal is the inclusion of an “IE-based” web browser to get all geeky while on the go. Let’s hope to god it’s better than their desktop offerings. Gamers will also find this latest PMP a worthy upgrade as Xbox live integration is about to get a swift kick into “hellz yeah” as Big M has announced plans to integrate services and products across the Zune and Xbox lines meaning a tighter, more uniform experience. The truly geeky yet important information such as storage capacity, CPU speed, as well as a boat load of other specs are currently MIA meaning you’ll have to check back later for the latest. I am definitely intrigued by Microsoft’s latest attempt in this PMP market. While feature wise it is a bit late to the game, I’m just glad they finally made it. Excited? Word lovers contain yourselves – press release inside.

Microsoft’s next search venture, Bing, has logo leaked thanks to favicons?

bing-1

This week is the week that Microsoft is rumored to be taking the covers of and unveiling their next foray into desktop search after their previous attempt, live.com, was an utter failure. Microsoft’s new service, Bing, will out of the gate set a new record in regards to marketing costs. How much is warranted for a record? Try $80-$100 million (reports fluctuate between those two price points)! Even on the low end, $80 million is a lot to spend on advertising and marketing by even the deepest pocket standards. Currently I cannot access the site, however, I did earlier and did in fact see the little logo shown in the image above. Is this blue, yellow, and white letter “b” Bing’s new logo? If so, I agree with Tech Crunche’s MG Seigler in conclusion that it is ugly as hell. Microsoft yet again shows that design and artistic flair is not one of their strong suits. Again, the $80-$100 million (according to Ad Age) is a ton of money to spend on advertising and marketing. Likewise, unless Microsoft really has something new and exciting under the hood (even better than their old 30% of on ebay sales that was tied to live’s early days), bling is destined for the same fate as live – dead. What are your thoughts? Are you excited to see Google getting some more competition? Or are you now annoyed at Microsoft’s stubborn persistence and inability to just call it quits while it’s already behind?

Pystar: “We outta money – hello bankruptcy”. Apple: “Checkmate”

  • May 26, 2009 1:10 pm

checkmate

Seems as if the Apple/Pystar drama just took another turn for the worst (if you’re on camp Pystar that is). Seems as if Pystar is having a bit of money problems seeping through their secretive layer and has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, meaning any “secret financial backers” will not be publicly known financial backers. Sadly, if Pystar goes under, one brave force that finally stood up to Apple’s monopolistic ways (yes I own a Mac and yes I like it) is now gone strengthening Apple’s every present “tough guy” image. Still, there is a bit of a bright future. Even though Pystar may be dead, OpeniMac and Russian Mac (translated) are the latest 3rd party Mac OS X machines that are ready to pick up the sales slack if in fact Pystar bits the big hard digital one. Are you for or against more hardware options for Mac OS X software? Do you like the choices that would be available, or do you feel that by keeping the environment nice and closed is what makes Apple products so…Apple (you know, meticulously designed and more or less aesthetically flawless)?

U.S. Cellular gains ugly as sin Samsung SCH-u440

  • May 26, 2009 12:49 pm

sch-u440-1
Ladies and gentlemen, those of you looking for an electronic makeup case brick shaped cellphone who have so far been left out in the cold by mobile device designers and their affinity for all things un-square can now feel loved and adored once again. The Samsung SCH-u440 takes the squared off cell phone appearance to a whole new level. Literally looking like a makeup case, this little CDMA wonder packs in a full-QWERTY for typing out a flurry of messages, a 2.2-inch 262k color TFT display for viewing all of those pics from last weekend with your peeps, bluetooth support for headsets as well as bluetooth headphone playback, a music player, and a 1.3 megapixel camera. Support for U.S. Cellular’s “easyedge” service is also included making finding voice-guided turn-by-turn directions, news, weather, and games amongst other services easy and quick. If you’re hip enough to be square, start saving, sadly the price is currently MIA. Screenshots after the click.
