One of the greatest features of the full QWERTY keyboard on a smartphone is the ability to type what you want, when you want it. You’re free to pick and choose every letter you wish, often simplifying the process of complicated and complex words that would often give T9 users a stroke. RIM developed and released some years ago now a technology called SureType that aimed to be a pleasant compromise between the freedom and accuracy of a full QWERTY while at the same time providing a slimmer overall package that resembled a traditional T9 layout. This technology allowed RIM to expand smaller keyboards to only two letters per key. Aided by predictive software, SureType has become quite the success at guessing what you’re typing more often than not choosing the correct word thereby improving your speed all while keeping a slim profile in your hand, pocket, purse, etc. But just because you have a full keyboard doesn’t mean you should lose out on predictive text features. Thankfully RIM is finally realizing this as the latest leaked Blackberry 5.0.0.110 OS has just that – predictive text enabled on full QWERTY keyboards. Take a gander at the video above and start twitchin’.
