windows7-stacksWhile the dock is a love it or hate it feature in OS X, most people who enjoy the dock’s company also in some form enjoy stacks. The expanding folders that reside on the dock make it easy and quick to see inside a particular folder. Until now, Windows users have had to suffice with….nothing (please correct if I’m wrong). However, your patience has paid off as Windows 7 will finally bring with it a nifty 3rd party app called “7Stacks”.

7Stacks doesn’t just emulate the functionality of stacks on OS X. It also incorporates native Windows styling and Aero effects meaning it fits right in the Windows environment without looking out of place. After downloading the application, setting up your own stacks is easy.

  1. Launch desired application
  2. Pick a folder and preferred launcher
  3. Create a desktop shortcut
  4. Right-click shortcut and pin to task bar

That’s it. It’s that easy. With 7Stacks you can pin up to 10 stacks on the taskbar and have them display as “Menu”, “Grid”, or “Stacks” (above). The best part is that 7Stacks is FREE. You can have your cake and eat it too!. For more info, check out StandAloneStacks.
