Facebook app for iPhone getting major feature boost in version 3.0

Facebook has become one of the most addicting and used social networking app this past year. Naturally, a platform as popular and now widespread as the iPhone/mobile OS X combo has cemented mobile internet use in today’s fabric of life for people of all ages. It is being reported that Facebook version 3.0 for iPhone will bring 15 new, big feature updates. Unfortunately, there is some good news…and there is some bad news. The full rundown is right inside.

Facebook 3.0 is bringing a ton of updates to the table that will set this app apart as one of the best social networking apps for the iPhone yet. They include:

1. “New” News Feed
2. Like
3. Events (RSVP ability)
4. Notes
5. Pages
6. Ability to create new photo albums
7. Upload photos to any album
8. Zoom into photos
9. Photo Tagging now much easier
10. Profile Pictures albums
11. A new completely redesigned home screen for easier access to all your stuff, searches, and notifications
12. Ability to add your favorite profiles and pages to the home screen
13. Better and intuitive Notifications (they link to the comments so you can reply)
14. You will now be able to more quickly call or text people right from the Friends page
15. Never lose messages again! Messages you are typing will be restored if you quit or are interrupted by a phone call

And now for the bad news… The one most requested feature for an application like this, Push Notifications, won’t be coming in 3.0. (Gasps, cries, fainting….) Instead, version 3.1 said to be available later this summer will bring the much needed and requested feature. While the lack of Push Notifications is a big let down, the updates to the app look like they will make up for it in the near term. Get crackin’ Facebook Dev team.
