Again, sorry for my poor rhyming skills coming out yet again in the title. It bubbles up from within and I can’t help it. Moving on, the OS X dock is either something you live for, or something you’d kill to have forever disappear. I for one fall into the former, I love the dock and find it highly useful. Especially in Snow Leopard with the newest enhancements and refinements. For the latter, you can of course hide the dock, but that is only a band aid on a gaping amputation. Instead, rid yourself of your digital Satan once and for all with “Dock Gone”. Developed by Old Jewel software, Dock Gone ($14.95 — 15 day free trial available) opens up another preference pane that allows you to toggle the dock on/off as well as enable/disable a sound to be played when toggling the dock on/off. If you’re a stickler for options, Dock Gone has you covered with on/off toggles in the preference pane, menu bar, and via keyboard shortcut. Again, I like the dock so I haven’t tried the software. But for those of you who are super excited like a little girl in a doll store, stop on by Old Jewel’s website and give it a good read. The days of a truly clean and uncluttered OS X desktop are almost upon you.
