The year 2009 is definitely the year of the app store. While Apple’s little gem debuted now slightly over a year ago, it seems as if the whole world and even a stray planet or two has to have their own app store. While the bigger names run by Apple, Android/Google, RIM, and Nokia take up the majority of the media spotlight, they aren’t the only players in town. LG takes the crowned “new kid on the block” status as they officially took the wraps off of their LG Application Store. While the LG App Store will only be available at launch in Asia, LG has stated that by years end they are aiming to reach 24 different countries around the world, bringing them over 2,000 applications to customize their devices and entertain their lives. There will be two methods of installing applications.
- Go to: www.lgapplication.com and download apps onto your computer and then transfer them over to your phone.
- Access the app store via your LG phone
From the pictures and a few minutes online, the LG App Store definitely has some visual appeal. Only time will tell if customers are sold.
