Android *finally* getting Facebook app

Social networking and the associated sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, etc. have become a staple in many peoples’ lives so much so that they want constant access to said content while on the go. For over a year now, BlackBerries and iPhone’s have enjoyed two of the nicest Facebook apps released to the world. Android meanwhile hasn’t seen much Facebook love as Google and Facebook are sorta kidna competitors. Helping your enemy isn’t exactly the most talked about favorite topic at company meetings. It looks as if the two sides are at least coming together for a short time as evidence of an Android Facebook app has finally been given some screen time. Want a peek?
Now while this hasn’t been officially confirmed by respective announcements from any camp involved, the evidence is pretty telling. The first bit of evidence comes by way of images from the official MyTouch3G website as well as a slip in the Sony Ericsson Rachel UI Video (17 sec). In both examples, one can pretty clearly see a Facebook app present inside of Android which means (hopefully) that the general Android public will finally be able to get their Facebook lovin’ on much easier than before. It is worth noting however that those who have actually seen and played with the Android Facebook app claim that it isn’t as robust as the iPhone or BlackBerry offerings. For example, there is no inbox in the Android App. Instead, the developers of the Android port are focusing more on the live news feed area of Facebook. Still, I’m sure you Facebook junkies on Android are willing to take pretty much anything right now. Does this make your day even slightly better? Or are you still left wanting more?
