If you’re familiar with the Tour de France, I’m sure you also know how grueling and punishing it is on the body. Such tests of endurance, strength, and determination should be rewarded every none and then with a little humor or “outside content” to keep bikers’ minds from getting so stuck in a groove. Lance Armstrong, with the help of Nike have brought something special to this years Tour: The Chalk Bot. What is it? It is a little “bot” towed behind a truck that prints messages on the concrete from chalk. The cool part is that the messages come from you. Yes you. Simply text “Livestrong” and then your desired message to 36453. Now, the chances of actually watching the tour and seeing your message on tv are probably ungodly high. But still, it is a cool little addition that I’m sure they will enjoy none the less. Those involved say they want to print at least 100,000 text messages sooo….Get textin’! What are you going to say?

The iPhone 3GS is marketed by Apple as a worthwhile speed improvement over the iPhone 3G. While the bumped up processor and better still graphics chip have easily noticable speed increases over the older 3G model, the actual data speed side leaves much to be desired. In actuatlity, clever marketing jargon and coy business tactics helped Apple push the 3GS as much faster than it really is. What exactly are the dirty secrets? It all has to do with upload speeds…or the lack thereof…

Underwater filimg is something that can be quite fun doing and equally fun watching. Normally, unwieldy equipment claims your hands and relinquishes you to nothing more than “the video guy” while your friends and colleagues get to swim around and have all sorts of hand assisted fun. Stop losing sleep over your less than stellar underwater adventures as Liquid Image’s UDCM310 will free up your hands for more interesting things. Building upon the previous model, the UDCM310 features a 5 megapixel CMOS sensor that will allow the wearer/video guy to capture video at 30fps at 720 x 480 resolution. All of the digitized life events are taken care of by either the paltry 16MB of internal memory or a removable SD card. A notable plus — the goggles will hook up to any computer rather nicely as no software is needed. Sweet! The sale price for such convenience and behind the scenes flipper action comes in at 16,800 Yen (roughly $180.72 USD). Just remember to not go any deeper than 10 m…or else the effects of water pressure on gadgets will make itself very known.

Being caught in a situation regarding conflicts of interest is never fun. You have the various companies involved as well as the ever present government breathing down your neck. Google’s CEO, Eric Schmidt knows a thing or two about this. While he is the CEO of a widely sucessful company built upon search with new ventures in the mobile OS market, they are now also a company striving towards launching their own full blown OS. Obviously, being on Apple’s board to oversea the best interests and direction of that company poses a problem. How can Mr. Schmidt serve both companies equally?

Like most gamers (I assume), I often turn of the TV after a gaming session and simply leave my PS3 or 360 on so that later I can come back and start right back up without waiting. Now, the more green readers out there may be a little red faced about this. But, it’s what I do. Get over it. Then there are those other people that turn off the TV and simply forget to turn off their console — their minds have a bit of a goldfish moment. Trickle Star would like to let you know that their new “TrickleSave” gizmo will take the remembering to turn off your console load off your shoulders and mind.
Simply plug your console and TV into the TrickleSaver, and go about your business. When you turn off your TV, the TrickleSaver will recognize that it was turned off and repeat the same action to your console. Neat! At $34.95 I think it’s a bit overpriced as the duties of the device aren’t that technologically involved. Still, if you’re one of those who simply forgets all of the time, you may want to think about this one. Of course you could just continue on through life, leaving exhausted power plants and dead trees in your wake. Just sayin’….
