Ever gazed at your Playstation controller and imagined a world full of files neatly held together by playstation buttons attached to paper clips? Ya…me neither. But someone else has. A creative seller on Etsy, Bear Duck Designs has put together these little doo dads for your filing enjoyment. While they don’t exactly offer as much fun in their new environment as they do on their home turf, they will none the less add a level of geekiness and coolness to everyday mundane things. If you’ve ever driven a car, chances are you’ve encountered those people which shouldn’t be driving…let alone have a license. Their displays of stupidity and utter lack of any road manners makes you so angry you could beat them with a crow bar. Violent? Maybe. Needed? Most likely. Usually we humans rely on our ancestors’ language when communicating across lanes to signal to other drivers how we really feel. But why take out hands off the wheel and our texting? Why not let another gadget do it for us?

Thankfully technology has a rather comical and functional solution: The Hand. The Hand is a nice gadget that you can mount in your car windows or anywhere else you’d like to freely speak your mind. With the ability to signal using 0-3 fingers, most simple messages can be sent using good ‘ol sign language. As far as auto gadgets go, this one is a definite keeper. I need several of these…don’t you? $39.95 really is a small price to pay for freedom of expression and a voice, a voice to share to the world. Isn’t it?

Coolest Calendar Ever: The Ink Calendar

  • July 17, 2009 6:15 am

ink-calendar_3

Take all of your other novelty calendars and even functional calendars and throw them in the trash because that is exactly what they are when compared to the world’s coolest calendar, the Ink Calendar. Designed by forward thinking Spanish designer Oscar Diaz, the Ink Calendar brings a whole new level of innovation and sophistication to an otherwise mundane project and duty. The gist behind this time teller is the ability to display the date with nothing but a bottle of ink and 28-31 paper material numbers. A mere bottle of ink placed at one end with an end of the paper dipped inside and a lot of time are all that is needed to show you what day it is. Really it’s so simple yet so cool — the ink getting absorbed into each number easily and reliably tells you the exact day. Pretty cool if you ask me. So who wants 10? *Raises hand*. If you are lucky enough to reside in Madrid, stop on by the Circulo de Bellas Artes and marvel at this truly unique time piece/day keeper, take a picture, and share it with us! Take a minute to stop inside and gander at a few more screenshots of the action in action..

old-TV-bag-2

Forget practicality and convenience, this one off custom purse/bag will look stylish, set yourself apart from the rest of civilization as a geek, and manage to not break the bank. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for your back. This old battle worn Sony TV has gained a new lease on life. Instead of spending the next millennium sitting in some dump leeching toxins into the ground, this TV will instead come back to life as a very handy, very loved bag. I would imagine such a bag can’t be that light even with the innards stripped out. To access your ill gotten booty stashed inside the TV, simply give a little tug on the display which is now on hinges and gaze into the inner sanctums of geekdom. If this tickles your digital fancy you better hurry. The seller only has one. And at $89 I don’t think it’ll be around too long. Jump on in to get a glance at a few more stylish poses…

iPhone users just can’t seem to catch a break can they. First the iPhone 3.0 update has spawned numerous WiFi connection issues. Now, 3GS owners in particular have a new problem to worry about regarding WiFi. If you are in fact a 3GS owner and were aware of poor WiFi reception and speed, try turning off Bluetooth. The iPhone 3GS makes use of a WiFi/bluetooth chip while the 3G uses two seperate chips for each. The resulting sharing of the antenna in the 3GS is apparently the reason for the problems. Users have reported that turning of Bluetooth remedies the WiFi problems. Apple is aware of the issue and supposedly working on it. 3.1 couldn’t come soon enough…

The iPhone Dev-Team is one of the most talented and well respected hacker groups currently around. You have scores of individuals with iPhones that are mercilessly shackled who want true honest to goodness freedom for their property. Why spend several hundred dollars on a device that is neutered? That’s what the Dev-Team is here for. However, after an iPhone freedom fighter, George Holtz, became unhappy with how the Dev-Teams progress was going in regards to waiting until after the 3.1 iPhone update to release an iPhone 3GS lock, ‘ol Gerogy boy took matters into his own hands and released purple sn0w. But he didn’t just stop there, he made the claim that purple sn0w was better than any of Dev-Team’s offerings — not a small claim at all seeing as how the Dev-Team is somewhat famous around these techie parts. The Dev-Team has finally taken the stand to tell their story…
