Nothing like a sweet dose of confusion and rumor birthing information for this fine and dandy Tuesday late morning. If you were all set and content with the BlackBerry 9550 being dubbed the Storm 2, a new monkey wrench has just been thrown. Behold the BlackBerry 9990 running OS 5.7. While OS 5.0 isn’t even out yet and OS 5.2 (the next rumored update) is still but a glimmer in our eyes, RIM apparently isn’t wasting time changing numbers. Now back to that 9990 number. It isn’t being assigned to a new piece of hardware — again pointing to the Storm 2 which up until now has been classified as the 9550. While it could be a simple photoshop job, the believer in me has higher hopes. It definitely adds fuel to the speculating fire that has surround the Storm 2 and made it even more of a mess. So what do you think? Is the Storm 2 a 9550 or a 9990? Heck, is this pic even real?

Well, it’s a CDMA system, which is most likely Verizon, but what could it be?
