Maybe there going to incorporate mix it down yourself ideas with a new security attempt. Or maybe some type of collective feature that reports usage statistics on the file level. And reports things like how many people are listening to what your listening to, true popularity demographics etc. Or maybe its just to add social functionality, something like the chat rooms on the blurays. I think so long as they don't try any of that self destructing over time crap, it should work out okay. OH wow I just realized the first option would allow you to swap band members in and out of songs as easy as switching languages on a dvd! I know I'd love those options for the vocals more than anything. Imagine how much music you could enjoy if you could simply mute the singer, much less substitute them! But hey who knows what there up to right?

Agreed. When will they learn the world doesn't need DRM <em>or</em> another file format?

I see one massive flaw with the plan. Copy protection was tried with games, dvd's, software.
How long did it take the person who cracked windows xp, vista, etc? That is a full operating system. There are enough torrent sites that already offer up thousands of pirated movies, it will only be a matter of time, and very short time at that, until some geeky 13 year old works out how to turn CMX into a very nicely packaged zip file with guess what.... all the official tracks, album art and the ringtones to put on your phone!

As soon as this format has been cracked, it will just make it even more inviting for the people who were originally just downloading poor quality cd rips.

Ok ... I give up !

For 2 years now I have been trying to talk to someone ... anyone in the music Industry with just a little courtesy. It seems that humble freelancers like me are not worthy.

I basically put a paper together called 'redefining the album', and the substantive point was that I had simply created a file that was globally available, non threatening, contained audio, video, lyrics, artwork, form data collation, mobile phone compatible collateral etc etc etc.

For a very, very, very, basic example, go to http://www.davidgilmour.com/freedom/index.htm make sure you have reader 9 This is just one flavour of a whole host of options that can be created and delivers via streaming or download ... AND you can print your own CD sleeves, have your own posters or desktops etc etc etc..... GIVE ME STRENGH
