So far I’ve held off on really mentioning anything about the iTablet because so often rumors have come and gone with no tangible object in site. Not to mention, such rumors just drum false hope and drama. However, a new light has been cast on this much sought after gadget by way of a treasure trove of information that highlights some of the best features of the tablet that may or may not exist. Continue on inside for the full rundown…
- So far, 3 iterations have been created. The earliest of which had a 7″ screen though was deemed too small. The current “iPad” as called by iLounge rings in at 10.7″
- The OS supposedly being used is in fact the iPhone OS
- Physical appearance is very similar to an iPhone 3G — complete with rounded back
- Two different versions of the “iPad” will come to market. One version w/ 3G and one w/o.
- Screen resolution will be many times greater than the iPhone/Touch 320 x 480. Something right around or north of 720p isn’t out of the question.
- Goal: expand the iPhone/Touch line. Marketing will be geared towards a more robust mobile entertainment center (gaming/music/video/mobile internet) than the smaller iPhone/Touch.
- **NOT** to be marketed as netbook. Will be media player and light communication device.
- Rumored announce date is on or before January 19th 2010. We shall see…
- Waiting final approval by Steve Jobs. Claimed to be 80% chance of the iPad reaching market
Quite the gathering of statements there huh? I’m very interested if this iPad device does in fact make it to market. I’ve up until this point never been a fan of tablet like computers as the large touchscreen and horrible software that has always accompanied has left sour aftertastes in my mouth. Though, if Apple can get all of their ducks in a row, this could turn out to be pretty successful. So how about it Stevie?
