Most people know Best Buy as TV, computers, home appliance mega center but Best Buy is adding another facet to their business model: web syncing for smartphones called mIq. It offers some pretty neat features such as 1GB of storage so one can wirelessly back up photos, contacts, calendar events, text message, call logs, voicemail and even your social networking sites (Twitter, Facebook, etc…). Sound pretty cool so far? It gets better.
The next step mIq takes is to not only allow you to wirelessly sync your information from the site to your phone in case misfortune strikes, but in case you are in a situation where you have no phone or coverage you can log onto the website and text message, submit Twitter or Facebook updates, manager calender events, tweak phone settings, moniter phone usage, edit photos and even listen to your voicemail. The list doens’t stop there just my time to cover all the cool features mIq offers.
Those of you interested in the service will be happy to know that as of now the service is free and you are not required to have purchased your phone through Best Buy Mobile. And set up is easy: Enter your email address and pick out your phone (if available) and await an email from mIq.
