CyanogenMOD back with 4.2.1 stable release

Looking back but a mere month ago, hearing the word “CyanogenMOD” meant sadness and sorrow as it was at that time Google sent Mr “Mod a cease-and-desist order because of his Android tinkering. Thankfully a common ground was reached and Cyanogen could continue on pleasing many Android tinkers across the world. To mark the anniversary, a new stable release of CyanogenMOD, ver. 4.2.1 has been released. Different from other versions however, this one will lack all of the Google branded/Google Experience apps such as Gmail, maps etc. Don’t fret though as all of those lovely apps can be had if you first back up your device before going through with the CyanogenMOD install. See easy stuff. We can have our cake and eat it too. Perfect!

The main highlight of this latest release is the much improved speed that graces this latest Android build bringing lag and hangups to a cease. Another thing that may get your nerdy juices flowing is the option to lock the “home app”. Doing so will make all of those home refresh times when closing an app a thing of the past. Whew.
