Hail to the hackers: Xbox ban reversed!

After hearing news of the ban hammer getting thrown around on hacked Xbox’s, preventing users of said ‘boxes from using Xbox live ever again on the hacked machine as well as a few other not so special treats left many heading straight to eBay. Don’t be so hasty now. Do you not have faith in the very people that helped you get to the hacked and open state of your ‘box in the first place? You should know that the hacking community is extremely diligent and never faltering. Owners of hacked ‘boxes needn’t worry as a fix is more or less here. It’s not for the faint of heart and requires some technical know how on your part as well as several digital hoops to navigate through. But I’m sure the end result — a fully functioning 360 with re-enabled Live access — is all too sweet.

The fix has been dubbed iXtreme LT and hacks your back with a “light touch” meaning it gets you past just enough security measures and blocks to enter the herald land of “hacked ‘boxes” while still being able to slip under Microsoft’s radars undetected. Already we can see this is going to be another case of cat and mouse ala Apple/jailbreaking. Remember, this isn’t a simple click, download, enjoy deal. It’s rather involved and the requirements and task required by you will more than likely change quickly as this cat and mouse game heats up.

The gist:

what you need:

your 8955 live console + cpu key
a 2nd unbanned console
nandpro b + flash cable
xell loader
degraded
1888 fs
robinsod’s flashtool

process:

use nandpro and dump nand from unbanned console.
flash xell and use jtag hack to obtain cpu key.
use flashtool to extract file system.

dump nand from 8955 console.
use flashtool to patch nand dump with kv.bin from unbanned console.
save patched file (patched_kv.bin).

open degraded + 1888 fs.
create 1888 downgrader image (downgrader.bin) from your patched_kv.bin file.

flash downgrader.bin to 8955 console.
attach hdd + ethernet cable and boot console.

connect to live and update to 8955 dashboard.

console is now fully working and unbanned!

Continue at your own risk! But if I were you and was in the position of having a neutered hacked ‘box you bet your sweet arse I’d be giving this a go. What are you waiting for. Get to it!

    Yeah, that’s great if you’ve got another xbox laying around and you HAVE to have your old one working. Would it not be easier to simply flash the new drive/console with iXtreme LT and not have to do a bunch of work on BOTH consoles?

    Also, I don’t care much for XBL anymore. Too many whining kids and idiots, and bans aren’t going to change that. What I want to know is if someone is even trying to make a fix for the neutered boxes so you will be able to connect to WMP11, play videos, and use my 120gb HDD again? Like I said, not everyone is interested in being online.

    The XBL Service Agreement never said anything about those standard Xbox features being taken away, either. It only said that you would be banned from LIVE for reasons x, y, and/or z, not that they would reduce the functionality of your Xbox. Is that even legal? How do they neuter your Xbox anyways? It seems like they would have to use some kind of computer virus or worm to change the data. Wouldn’t that be breaking some kind of cyberlaw?

      You would think. But as well all know the world in which we live is ruled and governed by the few with deep pockets. We people who fund those pockets are replaceable, expendable, and useless (in their eyes).
