Camper trailers are cool again: C3 Hotel Cube

If I ever thought I would hear someone say that a “camper” could be cool, I would have chuckled and laughed at that individual, convinced that this person was a few fries short of a happy meal. Now if they were talking about the C3 Hotel Cube (designed by Jianbo Huang & Ting Zhao), I would agree — campers are cool again. As is standard with pretty much any concept vehicle, future tech rains in on several fronts. From electronically controlled glass to dual action stove/refrigerator to pull out awning, this camper is the perfect for a weekend get away. Being the sports junkie that I also have living within, I can’t help but think how awesome such a camper would be for tailgating weekends. *dreams….* Slew of pictures inside.

Solar headphone radio: MC Hammerin’ your way into the year 2002

  • November 23, 2009 5:41 am

solarheadphoneradio-1Even with online radio, streaming services, and mp3 players, some people still love good ‘ol fashioned radio. Who says FM is dead? While I personally don’t listen to terrestrial radio any more simply because they never play anything outside of the top 50 popular songs, repeating each one until it’s imprinted in every nook and cranny of my brain. Personal gripes aside, sporting your FM radio on the go can be done in so many ways as FM radios have taken an almost infinite array of shapes and sizes. One style in particular, the headband radio is to me, the most iconic image of 80′s technology and the personal radio. If you’re going to be a complete nerd walking around in your MC Hammer pants, cut off t, and walking along noddin’ your head, you might as well at least use the latest and greatest in technology. Throw out those sweat stained, older than dirt headband radios you’ve been using and replace them with the Solar Headphone Radio. It’s no secret what the highlight is here — solar power in a headband radio. It makes sense doesn’t it? Unless you walk on your head, it’s usually pointing in a northernly direction meaning it should grasp at least a few waves of sweet mother sun’s gleaming light. How well does it work?

One hour of sunlight is enough to keep you bangin’ to the beats for 1-3 hours of uninterrupted music. When fully charged, the AAA NiMH battery will allow you to strut your 80′s stuff for a good 20 hours before the good times (and memories) get replaced by cold silence and the sound of your foot steps reverberating through your headphones. Super. As much as I joke, it isn’t a bad design or idea at all. Is £24.95 (~ $41.42 USD) too much to relive those glory days?

HTC HD2 going Pink…

Now before you think this “pink” reference is made to some popular womens lingerie store, I’ll come ahead and crush your dreams — it’s not. Instead this is a bit more sinister. Much like the Droid is having issues with it’s camera, it seems as if the HD2 (popular device this morning isn’t it…?) has problems of it’s own. While the Droid currently lacks the ability to focus because of a random, weird ass cycle because of a time stamp bug, the HD2 has a nasty case of the pink halo. This halo or “aurora” as it is being called leaves pictures taken with the HD2′s camera showing a pink aurora or halo in the middle of the image. Some units aren’t as pink’d with a small “disturbance” in the white balancing in the middle of the image being noticeable. Users are stating that newer units aren’t having this problem and that swapping out the defective units seems to fix the problem. So I guess the question is, is it a hardware or software problem? I would at first say hardware, you know, something with the lens. But after the Droid’s time stamp problem reared it’s ugly, digital head, anything is game now? What do you say? Hardware or software sickness?

HTC HD2 to be graced with Windows Mobile 7

  • November 23, 2009 5:17 am

htc-hd2The HTC HD2 is currently the top dog of the WinMo world. It has a massive 4.3″ screen which is gargantuan when compared to any other smartphone. Even considering the fact that it is hobbling along with WinMo 6.5 prettified with HTC’s Sense UI, the HTC HD2 is a hot phone. Not to mention, the snappy 1GHz processor tucked away within is another reason to gloat over this fine piece of gadgetry. So it comes as no surprise that HTC made a statement announcing a Windows Mobile 7 upgrade for the HTC HD2 whenever Microsoft comes clean with the update. I’ll admit, I’m not a Windows Mobile fan. If you’ve spend any time here it’s no revelation either. But Windows Mobile 7 does have me excited to see what Microsoft can do. At the very least, it can push Apple and the Android platform to constantly innovate and improve. With that said, Windows Mobile 7 isn’t supposed to be released until late 2010 but we’ve already seen rumors indicating it could come as soon as March 2010. What do you think? Is spring break going to be spent indoors, locked away playing with your new WinMo7 device, or are you on the long haul, waiting until winter of next year for your precious?

So how heavy is the internet…?

  • November 21, 2009 7:45 pm

An article appearing on Cnet today presented information trying to put a nice number figure on the actual weight of the internet. Now right off the bat, a lot of people are going to question the plausibility of such a calculation. Can you really weight the internet? In Cnet’s article they go through the various parts that constitute the internet. Parts such as computers, wiring, smartphopnes, etc. Now while those use the internet and help shuttle the internet, they aren’t “the internet”. The internet is a collection of data or ideas shared between peoples. That data is nothing but digital or magnetic 1′s and 0′s — mere electrons. So is the article spot on with a grand total of roughly 500,000,000kg? I personally don’t think that a weight can be placed on a service such as the internet.

However, as an article to make you think about everything that we interact with today and how the internet affects our lives, trying to put a weight on or even guessing a weight is highly intriguing. If you would weight the internet and based it off of the calculations on Cnet, what would you include and eliminate? How would you weight the internet?

The 80mph Mario T-shirt.

  • November 21, 2009 7:30 pm

All of those days speedin’ by Peach and Bowser in your cute little Mario Kart without so much as a single ticket were moments of luck. Don’t let yourself end up like the t-shirt above — out of shells, no star power, and now in debt….

“Touiteur” the best looking Twitter app for Android!

  • November 21, 2009 11:51 am

One of the few faults I have with the Android platform is the lack of killer apps and polished apps. But one app by Levelup Studios called “Touiteur” looks like it will finally bring awesome functionality and eye candy. Ok, I’ll admit that this app does take some iPhone-esque styling cues. Even still, I’m definitely buying this app as soon as it becomes available. So after watching the vid, can we all agree that it’s easily the most functional and best looking Twitter app for Android? I’d even go as far to say it’s the best looking Android app aesthetically speaking. Look any good? Hopefully we don’t have too much longer to wait…
