HTC Hero II to include slide-out qwerty, Snapdragon absent.

Thought that the mere news of a second generation HTC Hero coming at MWC was the only Hero 2 news you’d get today? Think again. The code below is just a smidgen of the mountain of code that comprises the HTC Espresso’s firmware. Even if you don’t know any type of code language, you can piece through the wording below and see that the next gen Hero will feature a slide out qwerty keyboard. The only disappointing thing is that the other specs we can see, such as screen resolution and processor, are exactly the same as the current gen Hero — and pretty much every other Android phone.

Why would HTC push out a second gen Hero with the exact same specs a good year after the original? The ARM 11 processor clocked at 528MHz was a premium option. Currently it’s the ARM A8 that takes the cake. Going into next year, the A8 still has room to grow and a dual-core mobile processor by ARM is drool inducing to say the least. With such technology on the horizon, why would HTC make use of the ARM 11 which is now a couple years old? Beats me. I’m still hopeful for the best. Just slightly disappointed that Snapdragon didn’t manage to sneak it’s way in. Eh, make your way inside and have a look for yourself…
