Acer A1 comes state side. Passes FCC with AT&T 3G bands in tow…

AT&T has remained mum on any mentioning of Android or when the carrier might even begin to sell devices with Android. Chalk it up to their love fest with Apple. AT&T users deserve an Android option. Now that all three other big carriers have at least one Android device with many more in the pipeline means AT&T can’t afford to sit this one out much longer. With that said, we can always look towards the FCC directories and documents for early information of handset releases.

The Acer A1 has made it’s way through the hallowed halls of the United State’s digital gatekeeper. Such a device would make an awesome toe dipping experience for AT&T as the A1 features among other things, a Snapdragon CPU clocked at 1GHz as well as a gorgeous 800 x 480 WVGA display that should make content pop out on screen with all of the background work such as shuttling precious bits nice and quick.

The only downfall is the paltry 1350mAh battery. My Droid has great battery life. Though that’s with a processor half the speed and a battery roughly 15% larger. Unless Acer has optimized the hell out of the Android build coming built into the A1, carrying a charger, spare battery, and maybe even a miniature mobile power station is in your best interests.

Still, since the only two major players in the US Android scene at the moment are HTC and Motorola, seeing a complete newcomer in the truest sense of the word will be exciting for sure. Boy how I can’t wait for some alone time with the A1. I’ll make sure to put that hardware through its paces.
