Some bittersweet news for BlackBerry fans today: The BlackBerry Magnum, the hallowed be all end all BlackBerry with a touchscreen and full qwerty combo has been killed. Yes, the Magnum is no more. Sweet Jesus say it isn’t so. That was the real BlackBerry I was waiting for — not that POS that turned out to be the Storm. /rant.
…and we’re back. So how can anything good come out of this? Simple: something bigger and better is in the works. The Magnum we’ve all come to know (in our minds) may have died but it’s spirit will live on in the new ultimate lusto-Berry, the BlackBerry Dakota.
The image above is a pre-Dakota prototype device that is believed to be the Magnum (or now more appropriately what the Magnum was supposed to be). Though without the device actually booting up, it’s kind of hard to tell exactly what it is. Model names aside, it appears to basically be a Bold without a trackball or trackpad and a touchscreen replacing the normal eyes only of Berries past. Nothing radical.
So we’ll leave off with a picture and the hope that you’ll have something interesting to say. Have at it.
