Some bittersweet news for BlackBerry fans today: The BlackBerry Magnum, the hallowed be all end all BlackBerry with a touchscreen and full qwerty combo has been killed. Yes, the Magnum is no more. Sweet Jesus say it isn’t so. That was the real BlackBerry I was waiting for — not that POS that turned out to be the Storm. /rant.
…and we’re back. So how can anything good come out of this? Simple: something bigger and better is in the works. The Magnum we’ve all come to know (in our minds) may have died but it’s spirit will live on in the new ultimate lusto-Berry, the BlackBerry Dakota.
The image above is a pre-Dakota prototype device that is believed to be the Magnum (or now more appropriately what the Magnum was supposed to be). Though without the device actually booting up, it’s kind of hard to tell exactly what it is. Model names aside, it appears to basically be a Bold without a trackball or trackpad and a touchscreen replacing the normal eyes only of Berries past. Nothing radical.
So we’ll leave off with a picture and the hope that you’ll have something interesting to say. Have at it.

As if you needed another reason to hate China’s government, it appears their insatiable appetite for fucking the 1+ billion users over needs something new, something fresh. Besides completely destroying (read: censoring) the greatest invention of all time — the internet — the Chinese gov’t has now set their sites on texting.
If you reside in China and are a frequent user of dirty, vulgar, or otherwise, common daily rituals in text based communication, watch out. The gov’t is watching you. Offensive and “unhealthy” messages will be erased and those who sent such messages will have their cellular service cut off by the gov’t.
Anyone on the inside care to comment (if you can even read this)?
When will they learn….

iPhone cases are a dime a dozen these days. Walk into any mall or electronics retailer and stop by the iPhone case display. Chances are you’ll see at least eleventy billion different cases in various colors, shapes, sizes, and with all kinds of added features. The case scene is clearly a big thing. The only problem is that no matter how many different colors or shapes you have, someone else (too many someone elses) is going to have the exact same case. For some, that’s a deal breaker.
Of course, you could just be a geek too. I definitely fit in the geek category. But I’m not alone. Modder Goteking would also fit under that “geek” category thanks to his custom iPhone case…built out of a Game Boy Advance.
Watch your friends’ mouths drop and strangers twist their heads when they see what protects your iBeauty. For the utilitarian sticklers out there, it isn’t all looks with no functionality. The Goteking specifically used the GBA so that he could use the battery compartment to store the iPhone sync cable. Genius I say.

When I first spied upon with my very own eyes, the visual beauty that is the new 27″ iMac’s, I was pretty bummed I wouldn’t be clicking “order” anytime soon. It appears however my inability to actually afford the whole grail of all-in-one’s isn’t without it’s benefits — namely not paying upwards of two grand and countless returns/refurbs getting a bumb model.
The ever persistent yellow display problem is still running strong. Tech support at Apple is clueless, Steve Jobs is clueless, and God himself is also probably folding his arms and giving up at this point. Whatever the reason is behind the 27″ iMac’s jaundiced display, let’s hope someone can wrap their heads around it and quick as the newly updated wait times for said machines are now inching up to and past 3 weeks.
Other reports trickling around this digital jungle claim that the issue does not reside in the LED’s as some have speculated with several tinkerers dissecting their machines and actually measuring the color temperature on the various LED’s.
If you already have or are getting ready to go through a bum 27″ iMac, share your frustrations with us. We’re like a woman…we listen…we just don’t have a pretty face to look at…

Lookin’ to upgrade your computers RAM with something a little more…*clears throat*…speedy? Do you also find your wallet unnecessarily weighed down by an extra $200+? (Wouldn’t I like that problem….) If you answered yes to question #1, #2, or both, Corsair has a particular item they’d be more than willing to sell you.
The Corsair Dominator GTX 2,333MHz RAM is as one can guess, fast. If you are the type that really needs this type of speed from your volatile memory, this is your stick. At 200 bucks a pop however, it and the bragging rights don’t come cheap. A fortunate few humans out there don’t fret over such trivial things as monetary rates. Wouldn’t that be nice? So how many are you going to order?

Ever since Google released the free Google Navigation for Android 2.0 devices, the tech world at large has been pretty fixated on how cheap (duh) and robust the service is. For $0, nothing else really comes close. Nokia would like to remind you however that they are still very much in the game.
Today at a Nokia press conference, not only did the Nokia Exec’s present make mention of how Ovi Maps is better than the rest, they even went as far as to claim it’s hands down better than Android and Google Maps/Navigation. Pretty bold wouldn’t you say?
They base their claims on the fact that Ovi Maps uses both a cell signal and preloaded map data to make using Ovi Maps a much smoother and faster experience. On non-3G phones or 3G phones outside of 3G coverage, Google’s offering (along with pretty much any other mobile map/navigation software that relies on cell signal) relies on a cell connection to constantly update (read: download lots of data) the application.
So is it actually better? We’ll have to reserve that judgement until we get some hands on time. As one would expect form such a large global brand, a full 180 countries will be able to use Ovi Maps in the coming weeks spanning across 46 languages. However, if you’re looking to get all lippy with Ovi Maps, at this point and time only 74 countries will gain said feature.
If you’ve got a Nokia N97 mini, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, Nokia E52, Nokia E55, Nokia E72, Nokia 5230, Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia 6730 classic, or Nokia X6, count yourself lucky as you’re part of the elite few (for now) who can use Ovi Maps.
So Nokia users, how’s it lookin’?

Android users in the UK, listen up. If you were distraught and wondering around the streets of the mother country because you couldn’t download music OTA via the Amazon MP3 app, now is the day to put away that hanky.
Amazon would love for you to know that UK’ers rockin’ that friendly little green machine can now partake of OTA music goodness. Of course, many users have already been using the service as a leaked version of the app was released some time back.
If you fit that bill, you still may want to eye upgrading. New numbers are always nice. Not to mention, the official app now supports Android 1.5. Whoop Whoop! Go into the Android Market app and search “Amazon/Amazon Music” and download the free app now.
