Weather Channel getting all geeky, displaying barcode for Android app on TV during weather reports.

It isn’t too often we get to see more mainstream areas of the media get all geeky and forward thinking. Case in point: The Weather Channel and their new barcode ad/download aid for the Weather Channel app for Android. From here on out, the scanable barcode will be displayed 20 minutes after the hour, every hour during the hours below:

Day Planner (Monday – Friday, 11am-2 pm)

PM Edition (Mon-Fri, 4-7 pm) and

WeatherCenter Late (Mon-Fri, 10pm -1am)

Again, during these times when you see the barcode, simply point your Android device at the code and give it a scan — instant app gratification. Now if only more media/TV sources would start using such technology, we could all be better off.
