Android sorrows: Adobe Flash to only be supported on 2.1 and above. Dev community to remedy situation in 3..2..
Well this is certainly disappointing news:
The much talked about Adobe Flash 10.1 which is slated to drop in the near future on a bevy of mobile devices, will at least in the Android world, leave a fair chunk of users out in the cold. If you’re Android device is running on 2.0 or lower, you will not gain Flash support! The reasoning behind this is some sort of “software-level access” that only 2.1 and future updates will include.
Any developers out there please correct me if I’m wrong, but if it’s some software limitation, why can’t any OS be modified to support Flash? Is this an instance of Adobe getting some special root permission that rooted phones already enjoy?
It’s a moot point really. As soon as the Flash code hits the web, the excellent developer community will rip it to shreds and port it to any and every device regardless of OS version. Gotta love the community!
