The whole fiasco with the Andriod 2.1 update and Flash won’t likely disappear anytime soon. It looks as if for now, however, we’re all going to have to suck it up and deal with it. Similar to many others, when I saw there was a very strong possibility that 2.1+ devices were the only ones to receive the Android update, I voiced my displeasure. There’s isn’t much I can do since I’m not very into coding/programming though.
Why would Google usher such updates to the Android platform if a fair chunk of the customers are ever going to even see anything to begin with? Adrian Ludwig, group product marketing manager said the following:
Adobe, Google, and other members of the Open Screen Project are working together to make ensure the full Web experience can be delivered on largest possible number of devices. Support for full Flash Player 10.1 requires some enhancements to existing versions of Android. These enhancements are expected to be available as an upgrade to existing devices and for new devices starting in Q2 2010.
So after hearing two sides to the story, which side to you think Google is going to move towards — 2.0.1 with it’s stability and speed or 2.1 with it’s prettier face? As always, I’m dying to hear!
