MSI releases trio of mobile gaming rigs: GX640, GT660, and GX740

If the highest possible FPS are important, generally a desktop (or insanely expensive laptop is in order). But a few new mobile gaming power houses from MSI aim to bring more high end gaming to the masses for a rather mid-range price. Announced at CeBIT, MSI took the wraps off the GX640, GT660, and GX740 laptops. Being the geeks that we are, we’ll highlight the king pin first, the GX740. This top-o-the-line mobile gaming rig from MSI features Core i7 i5 processors, ATI 5870 graphics, 17″ WUXGA (1920 x 1200) dislpay, and SRS True sound. The only big differences on the next step down — GX 640 are the slightly smaller graphics (ATI 5850) and ever so carefully miniaturized screen chopped down from 17″ to 15.4″.

The GT660 on the other hand is a slightly different beast with a more multimedia/lighter gaming personality with features such as dual hard drive support, Nvidia GTX285, USB 3.0, LED backlit display, and up to 12GB of memory. Clearly some very tough choices in the near future if an MSI laptop was on your radar.

For now, mums the word on pricing and availability. But it shouldn’t be too long until MSI treats us with such juicy specs. Any one seeing an MSI laptop in their future?
