Verizon Wireless having network problems? [Update 2]

Update 2: By now, everyone should be back up. If not, well, hit up VZW customer service. Apparently the issue was relegated to the east coast, not national. Are you back up?

Update: Is “the network” back up? I have some emails flowing in again and a 3G icon has reappeared on my DROID. Anyone else? As far as I’ve seen, no official reason for the outage has been given yet.

Wondering why you can’t access those early morning articles, Twitter updates, and other data related tasks on your VZW phone? Looks like we have a network failure here folks. While we often joke about AT&T’s network reliability, this is the second time (at least for me in northern Indiana) that Verizon has had data issues in the last few months. A sign of impending problems? The things I’m seeing on Twitter seem to indicate this is a national outage. **Just kidding, VZW has piped in and said it was only the east coast that was affected. (Anyone care to chime in with location and network condition to confirm that?) Wow, I guess if you’re going to fail, might as well go big, huh? Go big or go home…not exactly the instance in which I’d want to abide by such a phrase.

Anywho, I’m in northern Indiana and now have a beautiful paper weight DROID edition. Let us know where you’re at and how your connection is fairing this fine hump day morning…

    Umm this is not just an East Cost problem Verizon, this is West as well. Problems all day here from 89 degree Los Angeles

    Interesting, I’m in South San Francisco area and I’ve had major coverage problems in my area for a few weeks. I have to go outside to use my phone at my house. It seems to coincide time wise. I don’t think this is just an East Coast problem.

    My phone stopped getting ANY service anywhere near my apartment…. in Southern California. It persists. I find it hard to believe it’s a coincidence, OR that they’re fixing it with any real speed >.<

    Its not just Droids. Blackberry’s as well. No data/3G. Only voice and text here in Cincinnati.

      I have the logo and NewsRob feed reader is working again. Perhaps I’m lucky over here in Indiana. That would be a first…

    My 3G is back up and running as of 10-15 minutes ago (roughly 8:10am-ish). How’s everyone else doing now?

        I have been on AT&T since 2002, using their 3g since 2006. I have had one 3g outage in almost 4 years. That ain’t bad!
        I’m not bragging, I’ve just always hated Verizon. lol

          You lucky SOB. I was with AT&T for 16 months and had at least 6-7 instances where data itself was down several hour long spans. Verizon, ya, I hate them too. But I wanted the DROID. Oh well, a typical phone for me lasts roughly 12-18 months before I get something newer and better which means I’ll switch to whoever has the coolest phone at that given point in time.

            I loved AT&T in Michigan, but I had to get rid of it when I got to Charlotte. Calls dropped like crazy. Verizon has been the most reliable for me, even though it sucks they lock most of the phones down so they aren’t as great as intended. I haven’t gotten the Droid yet, but am heavily Considering it.
