Poll: How long until iPad hacked to tether with iPhone?

  • March 8, 2010 8:52 am

Within the last few days, from the mouth of tech god himself (Steve Jobs), it’s come to light that the iPad will not be able to tether to the iPhone. Is that really that much of a surprise? I mean, if millions of people with iPhones all buy iPad’s and then tether, AT&T will lose out on considerable revenue. Then again, if they actually offered a tethering package for an extra fee, that argument would be moot. But I digress…

The jailbreaking community is extremely diverse, talented, and determined. So even though Apple and AT&T say “No” to iPad/iPhone tethering, how long will it take the community to make such things possible: 1 week, 1 month, 1 year? Leave it below…

Uhhh, since the iPhone can already tether with lappys, I would say almost right after release. I would assume the iPad wouldn’t need to be jailbroken to allow this, I could be wrong, since I don’t know exactly how this version of the OS will work. I guess we’ll just have to see. I would think the jailbreak will be really soon, since it runs off of the current mobile OS, so the patches should still be exploitable. The only thing, it will probaby be a tethered jailbreak. Can’t wait to find out

You can run “MyWi” program on a jailbroken Iphone to create a simple WiFi hot spot on the Iphone. This allows ANY wifi capable computer, including an Ipad to connect to it which would immediately give the iPad intenet connectivity from AT&T. It is very simple and can run in the backround on the iPhone as long as you have “backrounder” program running…..
