HTC Incredible slower than similarly spec’d, overclocked Moto DROID. [Video]

The HTC Inedible is as much a beast sitting in the hand as it is on paper. With a screaming fast Snapdragon processor, Sense UI, and a gorgeous AMOLED display, many are left saying “Nexus what?” But it may not be all roses and furry bunnies. A couple of videos have surfaced, compliments of a new Incredible owner showing that a Motorola DROID overclocked to 1GHz (running Pete’s Bugless Beast v1 ROM) actually beats the DROID Incredible also clocked at 1GHz. Say it isn’t so! Why yes, it appears to be…

In this first video, you’ll notice the main focus is browser download speeds as opposed to what I thought it would be — general navigation, app launches, etc., etc. Moving on, downloading a simple 1MB test file, the Moto DROID managed over 1400KB/s while the Incredible poked along at roughly a third of that. Browser test aside, quoted Linkpack numbers are as following: Motorola Droid — 8.2 MFLOPS | HTC Incredible — 6.9 MFLOPS.

**Again, remember those Linkpack numbers are ran with both phones clocked at 1GHz. Could it be the different processors coupled with the DROID’s better graphics chip?

?????????????

**We’d add the second video which shows the previously overclocked and rooted DROID downgraded back to stock 2.1 and then re-tested. However, that video was pulled according to the OP. Could HTC be annoyed that a performance sucking bug made it past quality and that an “inferior” competitors product is still beating their new hotness? We’ll see.

It’s worth noting that while the browser speeds in particular were faster, overall navigation appeared to be pretty much neck and neck. While we’re at it, we’ll also point out that this was a single test. What about loading up some content heavy sites and getting out the stop watch? DROID/Incredible dual wielders, this is your call to action.

What do you guys think? Is the Incredible suffering from some hardware/software issue, showing just how great the DROID is. Or is it a non-issue? Anyone thinking about holding onto their DROID’s a bit longer?
