The Incredible may be all the Android rage as of now, but as is usual in the gadget field, nothing enjoys the crown for very long. Before the Incredible, we had the Motorola Droid. Even now after the Incredible’s release, it’s still one of the top phones (the top phone if physical keyboards are your thing). Back to the Incredible — looking at it’s specs, it’s pretty hard to imagine something displacing it in the near future. But a few members of Howard Forums apparently under NDA have been slowly trickling out a few bits of information regarding two upcoming Android devices — the Droid 2 and Shadow.
On the Shadow front, “bill23″ of HoFo says:
…sorry I wont leak anything to you but I can tell you that the shadows specs smoke the incredible, and thats a fact not gossip. But to each thier own.
Aaaannnd, that’s it for the Shadow. Ya, not much. But hey, it’s something to look forward to. Where it gets more interesting however is the Droid 2. Again, bill23 has the lowdown…
here are a few facts on droid2.
It is slightly more rounded edges, the open chin on the current droid vs the droid2 is the same, but the face of the droid2 chin is equal lentgh.this means the exposed chin on the current droid is open vs the droid2 chin is now part of the face slider.
also the 4 soft keys are moved around just a tad.same location but the menu button isnt the 4 dash’s. its like the devours 4 squares.
the 5 way nav is gone and replaced with 4 arrows in the keypad. this allowed the keypad to be biggerfor fat fingers like mine.
the camera is 5mp HD and the phone looks nothing like the pic above. not even close. it looks very close to the current droid just evovled a tad.The power, volume, cam keys are now flush soft touch and not so obvious like the current droid is.
I cant speak on the guts yet.too soon.this is all i can say so please dont ask for more specifics yet.
Another HoFo member, “Aixelsyd”, had just as little to say on Android 2.2 (Froyo)
Yes I have in fact run it. My lips are sealed on that. What I will say from what I saw with it is it should have been what the Droid released with IMO
It’s worth noting that a third device — the Motorola Droid Pro — is mentioned in bill23′s sig. However, as of now not much has been said…at all. Though in time hopefully it becomes something more than just some text in some random dude’s sig, right?
So there you have it. Complete obscurity on two (maybe three) new Android devices that end up leaving more questions than answers and some “info” on Android 2.2 that we already assumed — it’s the software that the Droid/Incredible should have come with.
Let’s here your thoughts folks. What do you think? I for one am ecstatic (literally) that Moto killed off the hideous d-pad on the Droid 2 and instead replaced it with arrows, in turn allowing more space for the keyboard/bigger keys. Anyone else have something to share?
