Froyo is sooo old news, bring on the Gingerbread (Android 3.0)
The Android world is still reeling from today’s announcement showcasing Froyo/2.2. There’s a lot to be liked. From the big names such as Flash 10.1 all the way down to the little ones such as an “update all” checkbox in the Android Market app. It all makes up the awesomeness that is Froyo. But, that was over six hours ago — already old news in the tech world. What do we have to keep our interests piqued? Gingerbread.
Following the desert laden naming scheme, Google’s next Android version will be known as Gingerbread and carry the hallowed “3.0″ numbers, signifying that some big stuff (even bigger than today) is in order. I’m already salivating over many of the features Froyo brings to the table. By the time the expected release date for Gingerbread rolls around — Q4 — who knows what kind of crazy hardware and even crazier software/apps we’ll see.
For now however, we’ll take our sweet, sweet time with Froyo.
