Lug around a laptop — a desktop replacement/gaming laptop no less — and longing for something a little more substantial in the GPU department? Gaming oriented laptops certainly have a leg up on the standard laptop affair when it comes to graphical power. But even then, a high-end laptop GPU doesn’t really hold a candle to it’s desktop sibling.
Even more extreme — any self respecting gamer wouldn’t even think of gaming on a netbook.
But with MSI’s help, that’s exactly where the MSI GUS is setting it’s sights…
The MSI GUS is at first glance, stealthy yet strikingly handsome, perhaps hinting at the power underneath it’s plastic shroud. Currently, this portable beast connects via ExpressCard, however MSI has stated that a USB 3.0 variant is in the works and should follow in the not too distant future.
For now we’ll have to wait until Computex 2010 to get a better feel for this. Some food for thought however center around the claimed prices: $100 without a graphics card and $200 with an ATI 5670.
That’s all good and all, but where’s my ATI 5870/Nvidia GTX 480 option? Bring on the GPU power!
Also worth mentioning is the tantalizing fact that with the MSI GUS attached, not only will you get dramatically improved graphics, but also the ability to hook up an extra three monitors (for a total of four including your laptop screen) if your little heart so desires. This is quickly becoming a very interesting piece of gadgetry is it not?
