I’ve never been a fan of netbooks. I find them underpowered useless pieces of junk. Likewise, “special edition” gadgets branded with some expensive logo also irk me. Usually it’s because those big name logos often forget to include any real hardware muscle. One such laptop/netbook that was affected by this was the Lamborghini-branded line of devices.
The new Asus VX6 is still a “Lambo” netbook, but has a bit more power under the hood and a funky new keyboard design to boot. Is it enough? The specs…
To start, the brain of the entire gig is Intel’s new 1.8GHZ Atom D525 processor. With that, DDR3 memory support also comes aboard. A 1266 x 768 12.1″ display, Nvidia ION built-in graphics, (2) USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, 802.11n WiFi, and a claimed 7.5-hour battery life round out what I’d call a rather interesting netbook. That is, if I found netbooks interesting.
How those goofy rounded “glassy” looking keys actually work in the real world and if 7.5 hours from the aforementioned hardware is actually attainable is another story we’ll have to stick around for.
Whataya think? Is this new Lambo-branded netbook finally bringing a decent name to netbooks?
