Blurry pictures may be the de facto standard for new device leaks, but thankfully the BlackBerry 9800 above has been leaked many times over. But this time we actually have a few juicy nuggets to share with you. First off, OS 6.0 is the OS powering the 9800 — not like there was much contention with that anyway.
Something that will tickle your fancy however is news that RIM’s new Webkit browser is onboard and working quite well. Based on the images provided by the Cellular Guru, 100/100 on the Acid 3 test deems to me that everything is in order. Hell, Microsoft still can’t hit 100/100 with their latest IE8 browser. *shakes head* But there’s more…

Before you get too excited, we must mention that these are renderings and not actual buildings. Bummer, I know. How cool would it be to tell your friends you live in a giant NES? You’d be the envy of geeks everywhere.

Another Froyo/Android post? Bare with me folks, this one is very exciting — for Nexus One owners that is. Google mentioned at their I/O conference late last week that Froyo would begin rolling out for the N1 in the coming few weeks. I guess Google’s definition of “coming few weeks” reads something more like “a few hours” because it’s coming…now…

I’ve been hitting the Android news hard the last couple of days and for good reason. Google had plenty to dish out at their I/O conference. This week was indeed a great week for Android fiends. First up on the list, the HTC Vision. What is the vision you ask? Think of it as the HTC Desire — but with a keyboard. As you may know, such a combo is my favorite form factor of choice. Unfortunately, all of the touchscreen + keyboard Android devices that have rolled out so far are mid-range, lackluster units save for of course, the Droid. But that could all change very soon…
Think VZW was the only carrier that hated customers? If you don’t recall, they upped their early termination fee from $175 all the way up to $350. Not to be outdone however (and possibly fighting for 2011′s worst company in America trophy), AT&T announced today that they too are also going to fuck customers over and raise their ETF on “high-end” and smartphone devices. How’s $325 sound?

As we’ve watched the 4G train travel along (albeit slowly), Sprint has made it pretty clear whom they think will be *the* next generation in wireless technologies. That is of course none other than WiMax itself. In the few markets it’s currently available in, test have proven that it is indeed fast. But there’s the nagging bit that it’s still only available in a few cities despite nearly a solid year of being available. Rolling out such speedy services does cost money. I’ll give you that. But another more eyebrow raising reason could signal why they’re been a little stagnant.
Even more eye raising however is an RPF with the word “LTE” and “Sprint” pairing together. Intrigued? Read on…
The Android world is still reeling from today’s announcement showcasing Froyo/2.2. There’s a lot to be liked. From the big names such as Flash 10.1 all the way down to the little ones such as an “update all” checkbox in the Android Market app. It all makes up the awesomeness that is Froyo. But, that was over six hours ago — already old news in the tech world. What do we have to keep our interests piqued? Gingerbread.
