The Real Space Race captured on T-shirt canvas. [Star Wars]

  • May 20, 2010 6:57 am

Geeks we are and geeks we shall be. No better way to display such a trait than with a few articles of geeky clothing.

Star Wars is synonymous with nerd, so that’s a good place to start. The shirt above highlights the real space race, Star Wars style.

Perhaps George Lucas should resurrect the series and toss in a few bouncing balloon races, huh?

Amidst increasing skepticism/rumors, AT&T reports “Nothing new” concerning iPhone tethering

  • May 19, 2010 6:04 pm

According to AT&T’s Mark Siegel, “Nothing new” concerning the hot button issue of iPhone tethering is being released today. The news cuts through fresh rumors that have surfaced showing a new tethering config page in the latest iPhone 4.0 beta 4 that was recently released to devs.

Unfortunately, it’s a load of crap for all of AT&T’s customers who wish to use such a feature legitimately. The response also doesn’t give any indication or clue as to when we can expect such a feature either. It seems Ralph de la Vega’s comments in 2009 of iPhone tethering “coming soon” were full of hot air. I understand the much needed boost in network resilience, but going on 12+ months, come on…

iPod Touch w/ 2 megapixel camera blows it’s cover.

Boy oh boy, I bet el Jobso is getting pissed. First it was his baby, the iPhone’s 4th rendition and now this, the next gen iPod Touch complete with 2 megapixel camera.

One interesting tidbit is that of the serial number. IT originates from late-2009 meaning it could be one of those infamous 3rd gen units that was leaked on eBay and never made it to see the light of day.

Other than that, the usual diagnostic software and geeky curiosity surround this leaked device.

Think we’re looking at the next-gen iPod Touch or is this just a rehash of yesterday’s leaks? Hop inside and let the video and pics tell the story…

Single slot GTX 470/480 debuting at Computex?

  • May 19, 2010 7:27 am

In the land of PC gaming, two camps reign supreme — ATI and Nvidia. Are you a fanboy of either manufacturer or do you tend to mosey on with whomever has the best chips at the moment? Regardless, I’m sure you’ve heard of Nvidia’s latest GF100 “Fermi” chips and the GTX 4xx series graphics cards they power.

One thing that’s been a hot (no pun intended) button issue is the heat these new cards put out. Even with Nvidia’s claims that they were designed to run hot, nerves continue to have their limits tested. Along those same lines, because the cards run so hot and need ample cooling, a two-slot design is pretty much required. Unless you’re Galaxy…

Would you use a webOS-powered printer?

  • May 18, 2010 10:22 pm

On the eve of the announcement concerning future HP printers, scanners, and other office equipment implementing freshly acquired Palm and webOS, we have to ask: Would you use a webOS office product?

I think webOS is a great mobile OS that was sadly underdeveloped and mishandled by Palm. The fact that they were literally hemorrhaging cash also didn’t bode well. But a fresh partner of whom has vastly deeper pockets is giving webOS another chance at life.

iPhone 4.0 beta spills the beans, tethering coming…for real?

  • May 18, 2010 10:08 pm

And there you have it folks. The latest iPhone 4.0 beta software with tethering conveniently stuffed in. Unfortunately, AT&T will charge you twice if you do so choose to go the tethering route, double dippin’ all the way to the bank. For the majority of tech savvy iPhone users whom have had tethering unlocked for months, this isn’t news…

Facebook launches “0.facebook.com”. Data charges non-existent!

  • May 18, 2010 6:35 pm

And then there’s the catch. More on that in a second. But to start, we’ll simply get the free whaling out of our system — FREE FREE FREE! As in, no data charges free you see. This miniature revolution comes by way of Facebook’s newly launched 0.facebook.com which is a slightly more stripped down version of m.facebook.com (and that was pretty stripped) whose main goal is to make your data footprint next to nothing. The clincher however is that Facebook has managed to get a fairly large handful of carriers and countries on board, agreeing to $0 data fees for traffic to and from 0.facebook.com!

The bad part…
