Concrete USB drive displays weight as storage, storage as weight.

  • May 25, 2010 7:47 pm

Tired of glowing USB drives masked as farm animals and other obnoxious, random objects? Yeah, me too. But this concrete flash drive that displays it’s weight which also doubles as it’s storage, I’m totally diggin’. I know all of you out there probably have at least half a dozen flash drives. That may be true. But if you’ve got that many, what’s one more?

Too bad this is only a concept ’cause I would be all over these. Here’s to hoping — yet again — that some manufacturer picks up such a unique concept.

Dress up: The Star Wars Tuxedo T-Shirt

  • May 25, 2010 7:37 pm

No matter the occasion, I can’t see any reason why you wouldn’t want to rock the Star Wars Tuxedo T-Shirt. Star Wars by itself is awesome. Combine it with the old tie on a t-shirt joke and you’ve got gold.

It may not be uber casual like a normal tux would portray, but it’s just the right get up for any self respecting nerd.

Suit and tie? Nah, I’ll take the Star Wars Tux T please…

AT&T getting cords in a twist over T-Mobile’s assertion: “Our HSPA+ offers *like* 4G speeds”. Frivolous lawsuit in 3..2..

  • May 25, 2010 7:13 pm

First it was Verizon. Now it’s T-Mobile. AT&T just can’t stay happy, can they? Instead of Christmas cheer, raindeer, and dudes with glowing noses mocking Big Blue, it is T-Mobile ruffling a few of AT&T’s stiff feathers. The reason for distress: AT&T is unhappy with T-Mobile labeling their HSPA+ rollout as offering “4G-like speeds”.

Boo hoo…

Holiday Inn testing smartphone room keys.

  • May 25, 2010 7:02 pm

Say goodbye to the old days of carrying around yet another piece of plastic while staying at your local Holiday Inn. Room keys will soon be a thing of the past. This concept isn’t hard to believe really. As technology and electronics evolve, it was only a matter of time before something better came along. I don’t exactly know what I was thinking of as far as “high tech” room keys go. But the solution coming forth from Holiday Inn is pretty neat.

Instead of any type of “card”, users can look forward to their very own smartphone-key. That’s right, your very own phone will soon open doors…

Elevator built for nerds: 12′ 8.5′ glass walls, holds 80 passengers, and occupies 102 sq. ft.

  • May 25, 2010 2:47 pm

Elevators aren’t normally something we’d gush over here at Gadgetsteria. But these new “uber” elevators located in an Osaka, Japan department store bring a new meaning to the word “glorious”. The elevators apparently move customers to and fro between Hankyu Department Store’s Umeda store and several floors of offices.

The dimensions of these goliaths are 12′ long by 9′ wide by 8.5′ tall — definitely bigger than your average elevator. Even more impressive is the 80 passenger limit and “wall of windows”.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly wouldn’t mind elevators as big as living rooms and with spacious walls full of windows shuttling me about.

Nvidia announces the GeForce GTX480m. Melting laptops soon coming to a lap near you…

  • May 25, 2010 9:33 am

As much as I joke about Fermi and the insane power demands/heat output, the results from Fermi-based cards while not mind blowing are intriguing none the less. Desktops have had their way with the GTX470 and 480 for several weeks now so it’s only right that laptop users get their own turn.

And so they shall…

Think your Prius is fuel conscious? Japan Electric Vehicle Club takes test car over 1,000km on a single charge.

  • May 25, 2010 9:12 am

The Prius may be the go-to standard for fuel efficiency with a few cult circles preferring lesser known hybrids. But none of that matters as all current “Green” cars pale in comparison to what Japan Electric Vehicle Group achieved.

These talented folks managed to take their Mira EV over 1,000km (~620 miles) on a single charge…
